HARLEY DAVIDSON - Old VS New - 1981 FXB Sturgis and 2024 Sport Glide

A little back to back riding comparison of my dads 1981 Sturgis and the new 2024 Sport Glide. Both great bikes in their own right. It's amazing how similar these bikes feel to each other. Obviously the sport glide smooths out vibes with the rubber mounted engine and is longer legged with the six speed gearbox but Harley Davidson have done an amazing job at keeping that traditional 'big twin' feel in their bikes over the years.

I have a 22 Sport Glide and love it. The shovel is nice but at my age I prefer riding to fxing.

I get that. My old man has four shovels and they’re all great but he’s constantly working on them to keep them on the road. Sometimes it’s nice to have something you can just get on and go.

The Shovel Head is the coolest, but I would have the 107 without hesitation.

Could you compare 2024 to my 03 fxdx equivalent? Thanks! I've got small detachable windshield, on July 28,09 I had bald eagle form up to 3" of my left handlebar an stay there windsurfing for almost 4 minutes at 38 mph. With his lifetime mate flying 1" off his left wing tip. both filling lane. When they had to move from oncoming service truck, eagle flew between my helmet an windshield, brushing his wing against top of my helmet. Together they gain altitude, flew across hwy, landed on Hoods Canal beach.

Shovelheads forever. I would not touch this junk Harley is producing today. Do you think many of them will be around in 50 yrs? Doubt it.
