That's pretty good mileage. My 2014 Sportster "48" was getting about 50 MPG. First thing I did was switch the 2.1 gal. Peanut tank for a 4.5 gal. tank. I have 3 Sportsters, a 1964 XLCH and a 1975 Iron Head (AMF) and the "48". I bought them new and have kept them along with a 1949 Cushman motor scooter I bought when I was 14. I'm 76 now...and still riding and wrenching.

I used to be a motorcycle courier in the 90s and i used a stock 883 4 speed chain drive sportster and i could get from Birmingham to London on a stock tank, fill up as i got off the motorway, deliver, then top up to get back to Birmingham on another full tank. The accelerator pump on the carb drank fuel. The fuel economy went south once i fitted a dynojet kit and didn't get 120mph out of it on the M25 (London orbital motorway), i also never pulled a 9 mile wheelie on the M1( main motorway London to the north) because i was bored (there were no cameras in those days). I wasn't going for 10 miles. I should point out that American gallons (3.79L) are smaller than UK gallons (4.54L). Size IS important Sean. The fuelly site is a great source for real world fuel economy figures.

12min 50sec I don't know if you'll ever see this, but this goes for everyone, you should never feel embarrassed about something you can't change about yourself. Everybody is different for a reason, and the best thing you can do for yourself is embrace those things; no matter how weird or annoying it might seem to other people or even yourself, you should embrace and cherish those qualities about yourself. One of the main reasons I started watching your channel (and youtube in general) was because of how genuine you are, so I vote take the shades off!

In regards to the MPG, you are correct about the engine running at "full capacity". It definitely decreases the fuel economy regardless of how big or small the engine is. Like you said, real world driving the MPG would be less. Cool experiment and interesting to see.

Well said! I have fun playing around with my riding style sometimes and seeing how it affects my mileage.

Yeah driving style matters a lot. My Triupmh Tiger goes like 50mpg if I let throttle in when I want and do all kind of driving doing some faster speeds and offroading. But If I stick to steady 60mph speed on straight quality road I can keep it at 70mpg. Its not fun to drive like that, though. :)
