Thanks dude! I…wish I knew how many miles mine has. It’s a salvage title so they stopped keeping track of mileage in 2001 lol. Congrats on the bike! You’ll have a lot of fun working on it.

I was looking at getting a 2012 XR 1200 and doing a build similar to this, I know it comes from the factory with a somewhat similar paint job but the tank, fender/seat combination look completely different. How did you get such a flat xr750 look to your tank, seat/back fender? Great job on the build, love the painted springs on your back shocks blinker set up everything looks fantastic
@detroitdrivers44152 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot, dude! I really appreciate it. The tank is from Phil Little Racing and it’s designed to mount real low like that. Phil Little Racing also has an accompanying tail section, but I liked the one I have better, which is a Saddlemen Eliminator. As for the seat itself, I bought the Saddlemen seat designed for the Eliminator, then I tore it apart, kept the fiberglass pan the upholstery attaches to, and designed my own seat and had the guy in the trim shop at my last job cut and sew it all up for me.

Awesome job dude! What width wheels are you running front a rear. Are they both 19" front wheels?
@detroitdrivers44158 ай бұрын
Thank you! Sorry for the massively delayed response; I barely check this any more. But they indeed are both 19” front wheels-just the rear one has adapters on it to make it fit. The front tire is a 130/80-19 and the rear is a 140/80-19. They do fit on the 2.15 inch wide HD cast aluminum wheels, but it’s a chore to get them on and they’ll need tubes as they’re tube-type tires.

What tail light set up are you running on the tracker fender?
@detroitdrivers44152 жыл бұрын
It’s been a while since I bought this tail light so I can’t quite remember where I got it…but the one that’s tucked under the tail I believe is the Custom Dynamics Knight Rider tail light from JP Cycles. I figured I have that one saved in my favorites for a reason lol. That one is a running light, and a brake like that flashes for a few seconds when the brakes are applied and then stays bright. Then I have another light that my license plate is mounted to and it only lights up when I hit the brakes, and it doesn’t blink. It’s essentially like a third brake light like you’d see on cars as the flashing light alone confuses people. I got that light at a Cycle Gear.

Thanks, dude! It’s a Cone Engineering exhaust. They’re a small company based out of Southern California

Great looking bike, are they Harley forks !
@detroitdrivers44152 жыл бұрын
Thank you! They’re actually Buell forks! Certain earlier-model Buells had these Showa forks and they just drop right into the Sportster stem. All you have to do is install two studs in the bottom triple tree for turn stops since the Buells and Harleys have different turn stop designs.

@@detroitdrivers4415 , yes, well HD made only two attempts; the XR1000 of 1983-84 and the XR1200's in the 2000's. The XR1000's got more expensive than intended and didn't sell, and the XR1200's were also spendy but good bikes, bigger of course than a real flat tracker . . . Yamaha promised to make one based on a FZ-07 and crapped out. Shame.
