I got the same seat for my 2018 SGS. After looking at other aftermarket seats the Harley seat was the most comfortable. But if you flip the seat over you’ll see that the fabric is stapled to the bottom plate. For the money Harley should be ashamed. Most aftermarket seats are riveted. I almost bought a mustang seat but ultimately the Harley seat was most comfortable. Not the prettiest to look at but my butt doesn’t have eyes. I have the tour pack with seat backrest for the misses and she loves it plus I got the arm rests for her. By the way, the Harley,”cool fan” is great for your passengers right foot not to cook from engine heat. That was a big deal for me because prior to having it installed my wife was complaining of her right foot getting cooked at stops and very slow speeds. The cool fan solution was the reason I didn’t sell the Harley and get a Goldwing. Happy wife, happy life. I have changed just about everything you changed except I did go with a Klockwerks windshield. Love it! My 107 is totally stock including exhaust. Fine with that. My next big investment will be a Wilber’s suspension system. I recommend looking into that. Cool technology especially the set it once and forget it on SAG.

The only thing I disagree with is the stock seat is fine. The issue is no one gives them time to break in they get into the seat game. We have thousands of miles on stock seats and they still are fine. And I love your bike just as it is. Ride Safe

Your bike looks great, and your so right about the M8. I had a 2007 Street Glide with a 103 it had some power but I spent about $3500 and it still didn’t have as much torque as my 114 stock. What I love about the M8 is you can put in a cam for about $300 and make 100hp and 115 ft lbs of torque. You need to ride it I put 15k on my bike in the last 12 months. It helps to live in Cali.

Broncoride I hear ya, here in SoCal we can ride year round. 4370 miles of mine this year was the trip to Sturgis in August. I am getting ready to upgrade the cam on my bike going with the Zippers Red Shift 468. Can’t wait to get that in. You should look at the Legends Revo shocks, I put the 13” on my Road Glide Special Abdul they great and around $750 instead of $1200.

I must say, that's one of the most brightly-lit bikes I've seen. Suspension-wise, I'd recommend seeing what Race-Tech might have for it. I did the Daytona's fork some time ago (it's a cartridge fork, so it got their Gold Valves, a shim stack I built and installed myself, stiffer springs, and they re-built the stock shock for less than half the price of an Ohlins unit; they make their own shocks now though). Bonnie has a damper-rod fork, it got their Cartridge Emulators and stiffer springs, and it has Ohlins shocks on it (but the less-expensive non-reservoir type). The ride on each is so much better than stock it's amazing, the Bonnie in particular was way too soft from the factory.

Come on over and you can have fun installing all this stuff. 😎

Kind of doubt I'd have the necessary tools for your bike, man. The Pit Bull stand I have fits both of my Triumphs but that bike probably needs a different one. Besides, with my schedule It doesn't get done in a day even if you seriously wanted me to do it! Shocks are pretty easy but fork internals are a bit more involved. Not real difficult but time-consuming (the Cartridge Emulator install on the Bonnie involved drilling six new bleed holes through the damper rod for a start).

Considering you have back issues, a longer travel shock setup would help. Another company to look at is Wilbers. Even the 3" travel HD shocks would be a bit better. As far as RG vs SG, the RG looks better from the front, but the SG/bat wing has a nicer layout for the rider. See Shawn Smoaks video on the mustang seat. He got the deluxe one for his RK and it sets you back. Anyway, great video and thanks. It's a beautiful bike.

Have you ever thought about putting mini or Apehangers on your bike ??? The reason I mention it is with ape hangers, I put on both my bikes, it has improved my comfort in my shoulders and arms. I’m still fighting the comfort for my legs being 6‘1“ with a 36 inch inseam. I have moved the floorboards forward and out and had the seat custom-made but it’s still not there yet for my happiness.
@Broncoride

BoDean 52 did that and I saw them on his bike. I might one day look into this. I don't have many issues with shoulder pain based off stock, but I have been told that they make a huge difference over long distances. It's weird that I'm taller, and I don't have the same issues you do.

Colin you need these. Universal Motorcycle LED Front Fork Lightz™ from custom dynamics. you don't have enough lights on that bike I rode a Ultra for 25 years. In Nov i bought a 2020 Road Glide LTD for retirement. It took some time to get use to the shark nose after awhile it is just fine. One pro for your bike, its the right color Blue. I have owned 8 bikes in my riding life time. I still have 4 of them 7 have been blue. The Ktm is white go figure. also all my bikes the stock seats suck does not matter what brand bike they all SUCK!!! Harley has always been slow to upgrade to more modern items like all LED lighting etc.. So far the only con i have of my road glide the sound sucks on the radio at 60 mph can here it great higher speeds it sucks. i just use the blue tooth in my helmet . Don't get me wrong I loved all the Harley's I have owned over my 42 years of riding. Only one ever to give me headaches is my 92 FXSTC . the rear base gasket kept failing my local Harley SHOPS i tried them all could never fix it correctly. I went to a race shop and he fixed the issue he re-milled the bottom of the jug. I still have this bike 28 years old and still runs like a champ. Loads of fun to ride. How does your back handle the 2 inches of travel for the rear shocks? I am in the market and am considering a street glide. I have a bad back from a wreck in 2007 (2 cracked vertebra and a ruptured disc that I had surgery to repair in 2013). I am concerned about how I will be able to handle rougher roads on this bike. Thoughts? Thanks in Advance.

Good question Adam. The stock suspension is just ok. It’s better than the 16 and earlier models but the aftermarket ones are much better. One day, I’ll upgrade. The Hammock seat has helped with my back and honestly I haven’t had issues since putting that on. I still stop every 80 miles or so to stretch. The bike actually helps my back if that makes sense. I was surprised at first, but it does. I get more uncomfortable sitting in a seat or truck compared to riding the bike.

@@Broncoride May have to reconsider my choice. I don't want to have to stop every 80 miles. I prefer to ride through a full tank (or at least 2-3 hours at a time). it is between a street glide, road glide, and a road king. I am now leaning toward the road king due to the suspension travel. Thanks for your input.

That’s my preference to stop at those intervals. I’ve gone 200 once but it was hurting once I got towards the end. Good luck on your choice.

Where did you purchase your hammock seat
@Broncoride

From my local dealership. It's a solid seat, as long as you can get over the huge seat look. I'm sitting on it, so I really don't care what it looks like.

@@Broncoride yep they’ve priced me out of the market. I was looking at a very low mileage SGS with a 107 but for that price i may as well hold out and just get one with a 114 if i want that torque

I have a 2020 in denim black. I like it. But damn the money. And to really make it every thing you want you’ll have 35 grand in a bike. That’s my single complaint. The cost.

More power this and that is all subjective. I have a 96ci with a gear cam kit and now have over 48k on the bike with no motor work. Religious oil changes are my secret weapon, you don’t need a huge motor to enjoy touring.
