I get it. I had a Hemi Durango for a while. It wasn't fast in the technical sense. It was fast in that it was a big heavy machine with a lot of power, and that just feels different than driving a small car will less power that is faster. All that being said, I wouldn't pay that much for a Harley that is slower than a Honda CB1100.

Doubt you’ll see this but I left a comment years ago pissed about you including scripture in your videos. I see a lot of death and suffering in my profession now, especially since then. I was, and still am in some ways, angry because I’ve experienced a lot of trauma from the church. It’s hurt me, it’s hurt my family and my community. I’ve seen and felt it used to justify terrible things. And I put that anger and pain back out towards all Christian’s for a while as a way to cope. Your videos are awesome. I still watch them. I’m not religious and never will be, but if that brings you peace and is your understanding of the world, if you spread love through it and let others live their lives, more power to you. Practice your faith, hell I’ll fight for your right to do it, as long as you don’t expect me too do it as well. Life is short, fragile and we are all just bumping through it. I’ve prayed with people to comfort them even though I hold no belief. Thanks for the content. It really helps me decompress when I need it. Hope all is well.

Torque is a better indicator of how responsive and strong an engine feels though than power. Oversquare engines tend to feel anemic at low rpm, and you can't keep them in the power band in typical traffic, they are better suited for track use where you never have to stop. The real world however is full of traffic lights, stop signs, and parking lots.

I get that it's a Harley and all but that's a huge ask of them to command those prices and only give out that little amount of horsepower expecting owners to pony up more money for "stages" that only gets them to the level their competitors started with in the first place.

I understand your comments, but Harley has no competition except for Indian, and most Indian buyers I've met aren't as thrilled with them as they thought they'd be. 60 hp is a ton on a cruiser when it makes most of it's torque at 3k. I have a garage full of bikes and HD makes awesome quality. I wish they were cheaper but most high-level-of-finish bikes are at least as expensive - Goldwing, BMW 1600, etc. All start at mid-20s. I own everything from pit bikes, street, dirt, and a Road Glide. All have their niche but Harley has no competition at all for their touring line. Harley riders don't Stage bikes because they're underpowered. They tune then because it's fun. Same reason the average pickup truck buyer spends more than $20k "upgrading" theirs.

@@nickpapagiorgio8038 The Sportster Evolution engine has remained largely unchanged from 1986 to the present day, though changes to the transmission, final drive and motor mounts have necessitated changes to the Sportster Evolution case. Construction is almost entirely the same between 883 cc and 1,200 cc versions; the chief difference between the two is a smaller bore on the 883 cc (inherited from its earlier "ironhead" parent), along with slightly different heads. Conversions from 883 cc to 1,200 cc are relatively inexpensive and commonplace,[3] and cheaper than the price premium to go from an 883 to 1,200 engine on a new bike.[4] Carburetors were standard on Sportster engines until 2007, when they were replaced by the Delphi Electronic Sequential-Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) system.

Seriously dude, I really think Harley needs to build different motors to add to their lineup. Also make an XL lineup. Bikes made for us taller than 6 feet. Imagine an inline four with 1600 cc and 180 hp. How about an inline 6 1800 cc with 200 hp. Tell me it wouldn't sell. I'd be first inline. You can only get so much from a V twin. How about a 1600 v four. It is called Harley Davidson MOTOR COMPANY right. They need to get a vision for new motors for the entire lineup. Keep the v twins but my God man get out of the 1920's.

@@nickpapagiorgio8038 it doesn't seem to be a problem with Honda, Yamaha, BMW, Kawasaki or Suzuki. That's an ignorant justification to stay irrelevant. Harley is a HIGHLY profitable company for 20 of the last 30 years. What's the price for continuing building bikes for people wishing they were the VP of Sons of Anarchy? The purpose of business is to make money. The lack of understanding is incredible. Narrow focus on old tractor motor technology is a plan that has a sell by date. You think 90% of young new customers dream of owning a Harley? No. These bikes cost from 29 to 30k on average. Lots of profit. Continuing to have a lack of vision will end this company. They need to make generators, outboard motors, lawn mowers, motocross bikes, sport bikes too. They need to race something other than the king of the baggers...and win. Tell me a 1000 cc sportbike with 210 hp wouldn't sell like hotcakes. How about a 450 thumper winning Supercross or motocross. You couldn't keep em in stocks. The reality is, the people who just want Marlon Brando's hog are a dwindling population. Grow or die. Why do you think they built the Pan America? Because their starting to get it. Oh and by the way, that things got 150 hp. By far the best motor HD has ever built. They can transform their company over time if they try. Choosing not to, is a death sentence in my opinion. Thanks for the video. I once had a monster 03 Stage 4 Roadking, and I think the performance is close to an M8 114. But what no one ever talks about is fuel consumption, I’d get around 100 miles a full take (5g). Not to mention if compression relieve valves were put in. When through Starters just about yearly. I tell people it cost $700 a year just to start the bike. I don’t know why I never got them done, that bike has been long gone. Super fun though.

That thing will NOT crank if the battery is a touch low. If it does manage to crank with a low battery, it wont start because of no spark or injectors functioning. He's replaced the starter AND battery several times, and it still sounds like it's really groaning when it rolls over. That's just the way it is... 🤷🏻

Considering how restrictive today's motorcycles are, I would say a stage 1 isn't just looks and sound. Considering it also has a tuner involved in a stage 1 helps with fuel vs air mixture. I think it's very desirable and can have a noticeable affect on your ride.

The screaming eagle tuner allows for adjustment from a super lean to a more comfortable rich setup which gets rid of some of the popping on decel. When people say that Harley's are slow, they neglect two very important points: (1) Harleys are cruisers (yes, I know that not every Harley model was designed as a cruiser). Cruisers are meant to cruise and were never intended to be rice rockets. The same could be said for Harley's touring models. Thus, the PURPOSE of a Harley motorcycle needs to be taken into consideration before one lamely argues that it's not as fast as bikes made by Japanese motorcycle corporations. (2) The various Harley stages or upgrades can make the engine much faster and performance oriented than the stock engine. Although it will never be as fast as the latest street bike from Kawasaki or Suzuki, it has a lot of torque and can move quite fast when it wants to. Granted, it may not go 180 MPH, but would you really want it to when one considers the tremendous danger of traveling at such a high rate of speed? If your intention in riding a motorcycle is to race around at highest speeds imaginable, then Harley motorcycles are not for you. Besides, do you actually want to enjoy the sights and smells of your environment or just blow past everything at 150 MPH? As in most things, the OBJECTIVE or PURPOSE of any particular motorcycle needs to be understood before criticizing it. In the case of Harley motorcycles, they were never intended to be street racing machines (with a few exceptional models). They were manufactured to be cruisers and touring motorcycles that were fun to ride and so that people could enjoy the best their travels would bring them.

I had an old Honda Blackbird and it was fast and was comfortable about 30 minutes at a time. You have to be young and limber to ride a crotch rocket. They are hard on your wrists and neck. My old 93 Heritage Evo has a cam, Jim’s Hydrosolids and a S&S carb and you don’t have to worry about getting out of the way of traffic or passing. To each his own.

@@jetstream454 True, but even then they're still not as fast as the higher performance rice rockets. They must be seriously worked on to perform at such high levels. It places an enormous strain on the engine because such stock Harley engines were never designed for such power. It's quite costly too I might add. Most Harley riders are not going to upgrade their bike to such measures.

Stage 4 should be stock from the factory. Why must you spend extra thousands for power that should come stock from factory. Harley could charge $2000 their cost vs $5000 customer cost. I have owned 30 motorcycles but never a Harley. Almost bought a new Fat Bob but instead bought Super Duke 1290. Same msrp but 180 horsepower, 104 ft pounds torque, only 460 pounds, stability control standard vs no RDRS offered for Fat Bob. I live in Hawaii where mother nature(salt) loves steel, chrome, and powder coating. Not in a good way. The SD offers more composites and plastics to fight this issue.

Wait wait. Not so fast to judge someone else's bike but this guy spent $6K extra on top of a already outdated POS technology? What a waste! There are plenty of bikes out there that make that kind of power and more with the same level of comfort without spending a crap ton of money on a motorcycle and another crap ton more to bump it up to what a modern bike should be making any ways! But somehow and someway all these Harley riders will come up with some way to justify the lack of tech in there bikes or the lack of HP in there engines while still dumping all that extra $$$$ into it to make it "Fast".

I'd say your "faster isn't always better" argument falls through the floor when you have to pay what HD asks for such a heavy maintenance nightmare. You're paying for a name when you could get just as much comfort, power, and more reliability out of a metric cruiser. I'm all for American made stuff (Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford) but HD is just a "oooh look at me. I spent $30,000 on a 80hp status symbol. Let me rev it a million times to keep it running at the light and make sure you know how cool I am." As nice as some of these HD's look, they're just not worth the price tag to me. I'd rather have a Yamaha Raider/Stryker/Star/Bolt or Suzuki Boulevard over any HD.
