What I'm mostly impressed about is that you didn't have to spend 3 hrs looking for the 10mm and inevitably going and buying a new one. Kudos

I really need to learn this ASAP I am a mechanic I figured it out only thing confusing me is the valve tubes cut them with bolt cutters and replacing them with s&s adjustable is that why everyone cuts them of ?

We cut the push rods to make it easy to open the cam chest for inspection or cam swaps. Saves having to remove the top end.

please can you just confirm to me that when removing the rocker arm assembly they just have to have play on both? as in push rods are no pressure? Does it matter what stroke the motor is on? Im going to just make sure they wiggle please if you can let me know
@DeathProofProductions3 ай бұрын
Really it doesn't matter if they have pressure on them. Just when you reinstall them take your time tightening them down. If your using adjustable push rods than you do bump it over until the lifter is level with the anti rotation pin. I almost never bring it to t.d.c to do anything on the top end.

Breather gasket was letting rocker box oil leak into it and into the intake for about 25000 miles. I noticed when we rode to Sturgis that he had alot of oil coming from his air cleaner so I new the breather was leaking. That's why I had him let me tear into the top end and put all new gaskets in it and inspect everything.

I got a twin 95' kit just blew a head gasket on front jug. Had the compression release stuck open as the button came off and then didn't pop up. You think that would have caused it?

No that shouldn't have caused it more than likely it was a head bolt issue.

Well I disassembled everything. That head gasket looks like new and came right out. The head is flat on the mating surface. Hard to believe that is was leaking. Head bolts were tight! But I don't know if they were torqued correctly as I don't see any marks.

So i have this nasty racket going on in my 95" big bore on a 2000 electra. I think its a valve . Ive watched your lifters install several times. Ive tried 3 different lifters. The hy-lift slow leak johnson, set of S&S and a cheaper set off eBay. Top dead center, 3 1/2 turns after no lash. No change. I guess I would ask what do i look for in valve body. Broken spring? Suppose ill have to remove the valves to know if ones bent? I pulled the heads and nothing stands out. But certainly sounds like a valve hammering away riding it.

@@DeathProofProductions no it started over time --after changing head gasket. Which was good it turned out the compression release was bad. But I think I messed it up when I put it back together. Cause I pulled the rockers, and push rods out the top. When I put it back together I put the push rods in, then the rockers and torqued them down. Which I assumed nothing changed as the motor didn't move. But they're adjustable pushrods.
