I really enjoyed your video. Just to let everyone know, all Road Kings do have a gear indicator. I know because I have a new one!. MIne is special as the speedo is mounted above the bars like the Sportsters are. The large tank mounted tachometer is real easy to read and not having to take my eyes off the road to check my speed is so nice. My handlebars are not as wide as the regular RK and are adjustable. Also mine has a huge solo saddle with an adjustable coil wound spring wound over a shock absorber mounted under the saddle for support and it also has two large rubber bumpers between the saddle and the frame. It's a smooth ride across those RR tracks for me. If you have not guessed it... well mine is an FLHP Police Road King. A dream come true for me! - Pete

Be assured that my FLHP Police Road Kings is exactly like the one's that you can see at any Harley-Davidson dealer. The best thing is the seat that is mounted on a coil over/shock absorber and the fact that the seat is a large saddle shape, much wider in the rear and then narrower in the front than any other H-D seat. It also has a kind of "Lip" at the very back that acts as a very mini back rest or I can sit on the lip and be that much higher than any other biker. I can see over SUV's while on the Throughway. Two day's ago my friend Craig and I went for a ride and he has a Honda Gold Wing. On the back roads here in Tennessee he kept slowing down a real bunch for the bumpy sections, especially in bumpy slow corners and curves. I began to think that Craig would think that because I did not slow down so much that I was a reckless rider. It turns out that while my Harley felt the bumps I did not, oh and Craig felt the bumps on his Gold Wing and that was why he went so slow in the rough sections. The same day while at my Harley Dealer I had a few people ask me about the seat they said it looked comfortable and where did I get it. I told them it is a stock item on a H-D Police bike.

I must tell you that, from your commentary, and believe me its nothing personal, we all feel differently about things for sure, you seem to be thin on positivity and thick on negativity with regard to the Road King. Perhaps you were just irritated about something when you did the test drive. I on the other hand am absolutley in love with the King and I plan to get a 2016 early this spring. I cant wait to start touring with it asap!

All Garleys, starting from 2015 (Ithink) have a gear indicator and tachometer in the digital display. It's like a click throw menu. Thanks for sharing .... Did you test ride a Road Glide too ? ... Ride safe.

the gear indicator is on the front left of your controls, RPM and gear indicator also mileage

I would suspect the missing shift indicator is due to the Road King being the minimalist bike.

There is a button on the left control that toggles between the gear indicator, trip meters, odometer, and miles to reserve. I've never seen a group leader that rides second to last in the group. What was up with that?

I forgot to point out to you that I did like your video. I have a blacked out softail slim right now that I'm thinking of upgrading to a Road King as I feel it would be easier on my back. Do you think it's worthwhile to upgrade? I will be taking a killing on my trade-in value. All in all it might be the right decision physically.

at 10:00 you say if you want hard bags get a road king and if you want soft bags get a heritage. The road king is on the touring chassis. The heritage is a soft tail. There is a difference.

I got a 2014 Road King and it has a factory gear indicator on the didital display at the bottom of the analog speedo. You can scan through it. Has room, trip1, trip2, odometer, remaining fuel to empty, etc. I don't know why they woulda dropped that feature on a new bike?

Man, too many opportunities just slipped by you to rip her wide open, to catch up with the rest of the test riders.. Kind of what I was doing, on my VERY FIRST FL test ride, at the factory, a few years ago. It's the EASIEST BIKE TO RIDE, EVER. PERIOD. I think they even race these at Laguna Seca.

I didn't really notice and vibration while riding. All the Harleys will vibrate some sitting at idle. Great bike overall. Take on for a demo ride and see if you like it? Ride Safe

HarleyDayRider I rode with a pair about 30 years ago, and had a rock hit my finger and I had blood everywhere, it hurt like Hell... I now wear deer skin full finger gauntlet gloves, more protection, and they feel great... The gauntlet gloves keep bees and wasps out of your jacket sleeves, those hurt like Hell also... The Road King has been available with cruise and ABS for sometime. My 2009 has both. How can you complain about the weight of a Road King when you ride a Electra Glide? I'm surprised that someone who calls themselves a HarleyDayRider knows so little about the Harley line up. I really like my Road King but I've ridden other models. I think you have to identify and appreciate the unique character of each even if it is not the bike you'd prefer to own. Gerry in Calgary

i can tell when u approach a curve u have no idea what counter steering is. above about 15mph u counter steer when turning. learn it, know it, live it! many ppl wreck in curves because they don't understand counter steering...
