Well done video. Informative yet not “preachy”. As you said, I have not owned a big twin HD that was not stage 2 (cam,pipes,and A/C) with some tuning. Remember, tuning was rejetting the carb and maybe a single-fire ignition. And that was still being done in the early 2000s. They have come a long way in the last 20yr. But if you really have to go fast, remember the old drag racing theorem. “Add less weight”!!

@kevindowell600313 күн бұрын
Not just with motorcycles but with all items. Buy what you need and want. Don’t buy something that fundamentally isn’t something, be disappointed and try to turn it into what you want. Or buy what you want and accept it for what it isn’t. Sometimes things we want are mutually exclusive of each other. Either enjoy one and let go of the other or buy one of each. If you want the cruiser look, get it. If you want a quick bike (off the line), get it, if you want a fast bike (high speed), buy it. You want a long distance tourer or that bike that will draw attention and so on. Some bikes have nice compromises across categories, some don’t. It is misery and expensive to attempt to turn something into something else that it was never meant to be. I am happier with this mindset.

If you end up dumping enough money into a Harley to make it a drag bike, you’ll be left with a very unenjoyable motorcycle for riding about town. Then a 1100 sport bike will break your heart. Those are Impressive Torque gains. I would guess he had to advance the timing to gain that much .. Which brings into question what Octane Fuel are you running? You are comparing apples to Oranges on the Horsepower was he ran the engine up to 6,300 RPM's vs 5,700 RPM's. Scratch that, after looking closer at the graphs. I see that Peak Horsepower is @ 5,189 & 5,350 which is well within the range he ran both dyno runs in. I still say he had to advance the timing to gain that much power. More timing is great as long as the Octane of your fuel can handle it. My Stock 74 Cubic Inch Buell will Probably still whip you .. one of the main reasons is that it is a lighter bike however

Sport bikes are like sports cars, Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s etc. and Harley’s are like muscle cars mustangs, Camaros etc.. both a blast to ride, both have their own riding experience. I would never think a mustang would run with a Ferrari anymore than i would think a harley would run with a ninja. As for as your bike your bike not meeting your expectations you have a poor exhaust and camshaft match. I could never get my bike to run right with the rinehart system. Throw a 128 big bore kit and a d&d 2 into 1 exhaust on it and that 475 cam will become a monster. Probably mid 150 torque.

I put a full stage 2 on mine last year, Feulling 472 Reaper Cam kit, lifters, oil pump, push rods, etc etc. made a massive difference, need to get it dyno’d now though to get the most out of it. I bet yours goes like a rocket now mate. Nice vid, new Subscriber! ✌️

It completely eludes me why anyone who wants to measure the performance of a motorcycle would own a Harley. They have their charms and attractions but effective mechanical performance is not one of them. If you want performance, buy something else. I am happy with my BMW K1600B, if you Street/ Road Glide riders want more go, compare the figures.

Lol you completely miss the allure of a Harley.

@OldNotDead-Club I believe you are entirely correct, been riding since 1973 and I still don't get it.

@@glennthomson350 HD are more visceral than other brands, some people (like me) like that. I also like triumphs and Kawasaki for the same reason. (two of the best most fun bikes I have owned recently - Thruxton R & z900Rs ) Here is a non HD example. When the Honda super blackbird came out in the nineties. I test rode it back to back with a kwaka zx9 - you would argue the Honda was better because it was smoother faster and had a better build (look and feel) BUT the kawasaki was more fun to ride and felt better because it wasn't as smooth - it had character. I purchased the zx9 but alot of people would have purchased the Honda. As for measuring the performance - it's not about the performance in itself - its just a guide so you can compare whats happening ... but we are actually tuning the bike to make it better rather than just measuring its performance.

I had some fat Harley guy on a 1800cc bike thought he could easily beat my 600cc Yamaha R6. Lets just say, his fragile ego was destroy as well that day. Harley is god awful garbage. 🤣🤣

It must have been an older slow Harley, an R6 is easy to beat off the line

@@OldNotDead-Club I'm 43 y/o. Been riding for the last 25 years. Have over 100k miles on sport bikes. I'm retired US Air Force. I get $4000 a month from the VA and work as a contractor on a military base at $55 p/hr. I can school you any time.

@@Bailey-k2j lol interesting reply, a 43 year old living in his mums basement. At that age you should know better. Your resume is not that impressive, i'm not sure why you have presented it? ... but if that's your game let's play who has the biggest schlong. ✨✨ Now ...I've been riding for over 40 years and I also have an extensive history on sports bikes that's why I always hot up my HD's. I'm not sure why you need to state how much money you earn but that's not really a lot - is it supposed to impress me? I used to be a property developer I understand money. ✨✨ Contractor on a military base doesn't really sound that great on your resume, that may mean you clean the toilets. I would use the words "black ops assassin" or similar to impress everyone. ✨✨ I guess you are trying to impress me with your military service in the Airforce? I do think it's a noble gesture to be in any of the services - but it's not impressive to me as I have .. let's say worked for the Gov in a more direct role in the past - as opposed to pretending to be Tom Cruise in Top Gun (see how nice I am let you get away with being a pilot instead of ...) ✨✨ As for schooling me, well i like learning new things - so go ahead ... but you need to update your self on what modern HD's can do now, firstly they don't claim to be sports bikes - it's cruisers and touring bikes so your initial insult and "i'm fast" comments are ridiculous. HD's especially tricked up HD's are quick off the line. Your turn, go ahead and school me.
