Thank you for another great video, you guys are always focused on helping us, and regardless of how many years you have been riding there is something in every video for everyone. I have a 52pan and a 2013 ultra and DK has helped with both. The best bang for the buck to get the most out of my 2013 and keep the engine heat down was the FL-VIED great product.

Thank you thank you. Videos like this might keep me from having to enroll in college to learn how to operate our 2014 FLHTUC. Damn near got the radio figured out. The 69 XLCH I started on in 79 didn't have one. Between them and now have owned shovel,a Duo Glide,a Servi-Car . I'll adapt but I get back to the house I'm going to give the two Evo 's and 72 XLCH at our house a hug(kinda). Probably just wash them.

You may find this useful...not sure it applies to all years. Many have experienced a higher than normal idle on the 08 bikes with the TBW (throttle by wire) throttles. Some feel it is a problem with the bike but the MOCO is working on a possible fix for this. It is mainly brought about when the idle is elevated just before shut down such as rolling on the throttle when shutting down, sometimes without knowing or realizing it. Using the kill switch to shut down when the idle is not at a normal idle will also promote this condition. The ECM remembers the last known idle speed just prior to shut down. What seems to work for many to eliminate this problem which can also be found in the manual is this procedure below. It is the same procedure for a replacement of the twist grip sensor as it is to eliminate the stored higher throttle value when shutting down and rolling on the throttle which is what is giving some this problem. Whenever a new twist grip sensor (or ECM) is installed, place the engine run/stop switch in the RUN position and turn the ignition/light key switch to IGNITION and then back to OFF four times (without starting engine). Allow at least ten seconds to elapse between ignition cycles. As the ECM uses the first four ignition cycles to establish the optimum idle speed, there may be initial performance problems if the procedure is not performed, such as high idle or hesitation when the throttle is opened. Here's a more detailed view of this. Turn the RUN switch to RUN, do not touch the throttle. Turn on the IGNITION SWITCH, wait for the CEL (Yellow engine light) to turn OFF. Turn off IGN only, wait for 10 seconds and repeat this sequence 3 more times.

@windsurfed1 2 жыл бұрын
Very interesting about the throttle reset sequence. I had to write it all down. just lately I have been noticing a higher RPM at idle occasionally but then it goes back to the 950 range. I, like you always use the ignition switch to turn the engine off, and not the run/stop switch. Just a habit I have done all my motorcycle life. we used to call it the emergency kill switch, I suppose in case you fell over and couldn’t reach ignition switch to turn it off ,you would use the emergency kill switch.

Yes, I rarely use the run/stop switch (kill switch). I found this write up on the process...not sure it works for all years, but this is what worked back when TBW first came out. I had my EITMS active at a stop light on my 17 Ultra Limited and when the light turned green, I accelerated normal (not flooring it) and I heard a loud clank and I never turned it back on again. Bike runs fine without it on. I still experience above 250 degrees on rides for my engine temp. Roughly 258-278.
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is not something I run either. Probably you heard a compensator clank that one time. The EITMS is not for cooling the engine, but to stop the rear exhaust from passing heated exhaust gases, making for a reduction in felt heat for the passenger and rider. Here is a Link with the things that can be done to cool down your engine to optimum temps- www.dkcustomproducts.com/why-how-to-cool-down-the-twin-cam-engine-part-i-dk-cl-tc-dn-1.htm And here is a video link showing how HD programmed in a power reduction in an effort to cool down the engine on your bike (not EITMS)- kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4Hbe2uGq8iJqsU

@DKCustomProducts

In the early years of the EITMS the dealership had to plug into the bike to turn it on or off. Later MY's you simply roll the throttle forward to turn it on or off. Here is a video where we show that being done- , starting around the 1:50 mark - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pn-ze4yDfddnqrs

I don't use it on my 2019 Tri Glide. But I have done a lot to cool it down. I know folks that do, and are happy with how it reduces felt heat on the right side for their passenger. As stated in the video, it does nothing to cool the engine down, just the heat radiating from the rear exhaust header. As a rule, and there are many exceptions, staff at Dealership are less and less well trained...I don't see that changing. Then, add to that, someone is getting their new Harley is probably too excited to hear everything that might be being told to them on delivery. Then, add to that, more and more folks are not going to take the time to read their manual...if it is not fed to them on one of the screens of their devices....????????

The standard answer is this .... any change to the bike COULD warrant a tune ... However ... there is quite a lot of leeway built in to the existing operating system to adjust for a change .... Should it be tuned ? Jamie Long at Fuel Moto actually provides a " better than stock " tune for unmodified bikes that you can actually feel and tell a difference... to answer the question " Does it need a DYNO tune ? " No.... and the motorcompany would rather you didn't use a DYNO tune but the SE Pro Street Tuner with their file downloaded .... Using all Harley Parts you can build a stage 4 131 that NEVER sees a dyno and can flash the tune to the bike and it be almost perfect .... seen it happen 100 times ...
@paulhood7316
@paulhood7316 2 жыл бұрын
The fact of the matter is this.. nobody has spent more time dyno tuning Harley-Davidson's parts than Harley-Davidson... they spend hundreds of hours on very minor changes and then they make those Tunes available through the pro street tuner to the consumer ... It will never again be able to handle the demands higher performing third party part will place on the tunee

Interesting for sure. You could tell the guy from Harley was nervous. The reset process is way too complicated for sure.

I was not aware he was putting out that vibe. We had a great time, we did around 20 vides that day. I found this write up on the process...not sure it works for all years, but this is what worked back when TBW first came out.

My 2019 Heritage 114 came with an 850 idle... It was horrible. Dealership set to 950 and it was much better.

Yeah, 850 is too low. Glad you got it changed. 👍

That's strange...actually, probably because your clutch switch in your controls is not operating correctly and the bike does not know that the clutch is pulled in when in gear.

Yeah, I can see why not. Higher compression, especially on a Twin Cam, would really have some serious vibration and I can't see how it is not going to make for extra wear with the uneven energy pulses.

Sounded sure to me but I didn’t understand the on/off switch first than ignition switch though I thought the kill switch was only activated with switch on but I don’t know but that’s the uncertain in it that I understood
