I have to admit Jerry lawler has won a number of matches superstar Billy Graham, hulk hogan, and many other matches. Jerry lawler would back it up at times. Jerry lawler was no pushover, he didn't back down from a challenge he would take it to you!! Jerry lawler has many praises from commentators such as Lance Russell, Gordon solie, Vince McMahon. Jerry lawler has defied the odds no matter how big his opponents are he will put up a fight. Personally I have seen Jerry lawler back it up! I remembered his rivals such as Bill Dundee,Tommy rich, Austin idol, Jos Leduc, Nick bockwinkel

Lawler had good Pyhology and could work a match and a crowd just about anywhere. Now Lawler wasn't a shooter or real tough guy in the business. But he didn't need to be. After all,the thing is supposed to be a work. I think we all know that Race could beat Lawler and most others in a real fight. But that's not the point. This is one of the very few times where I think Race was in the wrong.

Race acts as though Lawler's hold on Memphis had nothing to do with talent. That's absurd. Lawler had a psychological hold on Memphis from his mid 20s and was obviously a superb performer with varied matches. Nick Bockwinkel raved over Lawler's work. Lawler had no problem putting over non-HOFers like Crusher Blackwell and developed countless characters from scratch. A guy doesn't dominate for decades without talent. People may have bickered with Lawler businesswise but he is among the absolute greatest workers and talkers.

100 percent agreed. He wasn't a legit wrestler at all like Thesz or Jack Brisco but you didn't have to be to get over and be successful in wrestling. He was more of a performer and was outstanding in that regard. He wasn't handed the Memphis territory on a silver platter - he earned a share of it after more than a decade of working there and proving that he could draw money and be the top guy. Race is short-changing Lawler big-time here as a talent due to whatever personal issues existed between the two of them.

Lawler's ability to talk, take bumps, hulk up before Hulk hulked up, book, promote, and be creative led Memphis TV to carry a 70 to 80% watch rate every Saturday morning for years... if you didn't watch it then, you wouldn't understand. People put everything aside to watch "The King" and company. The WWE got sued for coming into Nashville and promoting "The King" on their card ... but they meant Harley. Never forget how many superstars cut their teeth in Mempho!

To put it bluntly, Memphis sucked! When the Jarrett's came into Dallas, I knew it was officially over with no hope of ever coming back. Even as a kid, I knew that Memphis was low rent, scuffling hillbilly bs (not even talking about the fans, just the way Tennessee presented wrestling) and that they didn't have any hope of resurrecting what had been a unique powerhouse territory with worldwide recognition, just a few years earlier.

Lawler was in the ring with the Road warriors. When they stood facing each other I thought to myself" How can this short guy without muscle tone fight them?" It wasn't realistic and I turned it off. David Schultz also said Lawler was a coward. Schultz would have to take care of tough guy fans for Lawler.

Lawler's lawsuit was indicative of how much He bought into His gimmick. He gave Himself that moniker so as to live out His dreams of being as popular as Elvis,who had that moniker bestowed upon Him by His fans. He even wanted to bring Elvis into the Mid South Coliseum to job to him. He sued Vince because His ego led Him to believe that that nickname,which was,in reality,retired upon Elvis' passing in 1977,was still alive in His fantasy world.
