Well I think we all knew that technical wrestling was going to be out in this one. And boy that didn't take long, in the beginning, I guess Abby doesn't care for announcements LOL. And there was no blading there that was pure unadulterated fork shots to the forehead of Harley you could see where it was in his forehead. That was brutal. And who knew at the end that Abby enjoyed fan approval / a fanfare. But it was a brutal match...
@DeeEllEff Жыл бұрын
Mick Foley said Harley called that “getting color the hard way” (not blading). And yeah, Abby seemed oddly popular in Japan. I guessed that it was his sumo-like appearance and use of a little bit of martial arts that got him over with them. 🤷♂️
Race to me always looked like a millworker or a guy unloading trains at one of the ports. Tough as nails but born 20 years later would have been an enhancement guy.
@markt8475 Жыл бұрын
You don't think Harley would have figured out how to eat right and work out 20 years later if that's what the job took? Of course the standards of one day don't apply to another. Babe Ruth looked like a rec softball player by today's standard. But talent rises to the top.

Goes to show how ignorant wrestling fans have gotten .
@pooddescrewch8718 Жыл бұрын
The fan is what went wrong with wrestling . In the 80s wrestling wanted a new audience . So whatever pulled in kids most of whom had never as much as wrestled their baby brother was pushed as " wrestling " when all it was to become was cinematic , implausible superhero combat with Schwartzenegger catch phrasing . The noob fan just had no idea what an arm bar meant but it was not obviously spectacular so to them it meant nothing . Wrestling was a dance not a realistic combat .

Problem with Abdullah is he wouldn’t take a pin loss so it always ended with DQ or Double count out loss.
@edgarhendricks366 Жыл бұрын
Yeah that was his damn problem he was so caught up in being the butcher pinfalls or submissions weren't allowed.he made a bad or appalling career of blading his opponents and himself.however somewhere there is an old issue of inside wrestling magazine the title of the.cover story is andres greatest victory and abdullah's most humiliating defeat .one.of the b and w photo shots is the french giant digging into and ripping the skin off Abby's skull which.would cause the butcher to hightail it out of the ring .and get counted out resulting in victory # 1000 for andre in n america .but par for the course the rest of Abby's career would be like that including his retirement match against hannibal .Abby was disqualified hannibal contracted hepatitis lost a $6.000.000 wwe developmental contract and took abdullah to court and was awarded$2.400.000.and.is still waiting probably some 15 or so years and hasn't receive nothing aside from that just like you in don't think Abby was all that .but know about harley race talented tough blue collar.rugged handsome and the greatest world champion of the nwa (in closing .if get a chance listen to jim cornettes podcasts whenever there is a handsome harley race story the are worth listening to.!
