Common misconception: car lights don’t work by weight, they actually work with electromagnetism and measuring induction through units of measure called Henrys. There’s a metal coil loop trenched into the asphalt, when a car (large chunk of metal) sits inside the loop the induction of that loop increases. The sensor triggers the light to turn green when the induction of the coil increases.
@High_Desert_Tanner2 жыл бұрын
"weight" still helps though, but not because of actual weight but because of the extra steel causing more of an increase in induction. My Road King trips lights every time, while my Speed Triple would very rarely trip them.

Interesting comparison format and very informative. I did something similar before choosing the 2019 EG Standard, which I got with the dual front discs (option in '19; std thereafter). Rented both and Ultra Limited and Road Glide Limited and did the usual salesman's ride on the Standard. Obviously the two Limited's were heavier. But the fairing on the RGL was miles away from me with more turbulence than the UL which positioned the bars perfectly for me. It was a windy day and side winds were NOT an issue. The final deciding factors were (1) the extra weight high up in the bars for the radio and speakers of both Limiteds along with the fact I listen through Bluetooth into my helmet from my iPhone anyhow + see weather on the iPhone and (2) the other touring accessories such as TourPak, fairing mount mirrors, Hammock seat for two, passenger floorboards, taller windshield, etc) all came out thousands (yes plural) less expensive than either Limited. So as opposed to a beginner touring bike, it was my base on which I used my 54 years of riding experience to equip for me without wasting money. Worked out great!! Thanks for the comparison report.

IMO the SGS has more color options & the 114 motor, but with all the upgrades I did on my EGS and the front tire being smaller ( tire & wheel standard on all EGS beefier tire ) I feel overall it's the best riding bike as well as best value

Blockhead, I purchased the standard in April just after it came out. I added a stage 1 kit to it along with some more blacked out accessories. I put the street glide seat on it for some style and comfort. Approximately 8,500 miles and never had an issue. I did add the 4 inch blacked out windshield for better air flow. I no longer have the bike since a vehicle pulled out in front of me and hit me making us collide and totaling the bike. The open compartment is nice for gloves and a slightly used water bottle. I will be buying another bike, most likely a Road Glide. Near big trucks the fairing has some buffering with a batwing fairing. With you being who you are with all of the electronics and gloves I believe you’d enjoy the fairing storage of the Road Glide. Have not upgraded to the 114 yet and now H-D has that 128 kit. Bought LED lights all around with saddlebag guards. With the price and every upgrade is just plug and play don’t see how you can go wrong with the standard.

I had a RG once for a rental and a complaint I had was that I could not reach the infotainment system!! I think it had the GTS system so I was trying to manipulate it with my gloves but couldn't reach it while riding!!

2018 Road Glide Ultra with 50,000kms on it, love it, cuts the wind better than the street glide, but its a personal choice you cant go wrong with either

Tell me what you think about a 5'1 man riding a road glide it would have to be custom made for me what you think about that

Absolutely love my Road Glide. Never been so comfortable and relaxed on any other bike I have owned. Harley definitely has one of the best rides I have ever experienced. I came from riding Metric Bikes and will never go back.

Do all three of these bikes have the same frame? Frame geometry? What is the rake and trail for each?

My dad owns a 2019 Street Glide Special he loves it, it's not personally my style I would rather put saddle bags on a Fatboy if I wanted cargo space. But I know Ill be inheriting his Street glide when he gets too old to ride it which unfortunately is not very far off.

Around town and for shorter day trips, they’re all really great. Head out for a 500+ mi long day or a 1000+ mi multi-day adventure, the RG will prove why it’s preferred by so many experienced long distance riders.

Just test rode a couple touring models - Road Glide Limited - same T-Rex arms, weird angle of handgrips, zero airflow. Street Glide (actually a CVO) got horrible buffeting on my helmet from the screen and the odd dials were very hard to read - low contrast between the markings and the back ground wasn't as fast as I was expecting from the 117.

Just switched from a 2019 forty eight I had for about 8 months to a 2019 street glide special and I LOVE it! I agree with her you’ll be cruising along at 50-60 and it feels like nothing! Def happy I made the switch! It’s also a much smoother ride. It’s like going from a Volkswagen to a Cadillac!

So many glides in the title... wondering if you where gonna test ride Astro glide...😳.... hard bags gotta go with the extended bags, you’ll thank yourself later being able to carry gear and stuff you pick up along the way, got soft bags on my Softtail, nice to have bags but lack space when load down with rain gear and stuffs, still think road glide if anything better look and you don’t have to fight with weight of the fairing when turning in town

If money was no option, it'd be the street glide special in performance orange for me though. Friggin awesome color.

#BLOCKHEAD do you have problems with not being able to do mesh and do you have problems with interference? On mine and my brothers we get a lot of load screeching and a lot of clinking.

electra glide standard for myself , I've been on an older sportster 1200 custom but want a bigger frame like the heritage or even road king , do you have a video on the heritage and rk vs street or electra glide and does the street or electra glide standard cost more than a heritage ? I'm not interested in the road glide

Am considering a Electra Glide Standard for 2022 or 23 vs a Road King base model., Street Glide base model..any opinoins?

crazy talk, the RG is the way to go for distance. It is more nimble, cuts the wind better, and you don't fight the wind with our arms. everyone here didn't like the handle bar position of the RG, but it's super easy to fix that and move them forward. on a SG, you'll have to unhook the entire fairing and lean it forward to get at the riser. also on the SG you're limited to the positions of the handlebars as you can only push them forward until they hit the fairing. Cruising, the SG is awesome. Touring, the RG is amazing. This coming from a current RG and SG owner. love them both, but each are better in different ways for different things. i love the way they both look.

Glad u did this with two other riders. Ive been fighting with myself about going from my Honda fury to a electra or street glide and which one would be better choice for me. This helps...and time to test ride!
