if you take the speedo off does it affect the performance? Worried about ripping it off and messing something up.

@@stokeandspoke1177 no, a guy I work with still owns that bike all these years later and it’s still get ridden often, no issues at least not from removing the speedo, blinkers, and ignition key.

@@DirtRider22a nice, what year was it? I got an 06 and my friend said if I removed the speedo it would cause problems but I don't want it!

@stokeandspoke1177 mine was an 03 anniversary edition. You can find some other videos but I ended up removing everything but headlight and tail light. Removed the keyed ignition for a switch and button under the front of the tank, and then +3” fork leg extensions

@@stokeandspoke1177 mine was also carbureted, if yours is fuel injected then it is possible that removing stuff could cause problems, would just have to do some more research yourself into that

I didn't have too much trouble getting them off the fork legs but they were a pain in the ass to get all the sticky off the rear fender,I plan to remove the speedo from my 06 soon as well see8mg that it has started quiting from time to time anyhow,used to have a 94 sportster,took off all the turn signals and speedo on it as well,I like a more stripped down clean lined bike as well,good job on yours,cant wait to see what else you do with it,im in Wetumpka AL by the way.

Yeah the rear fender tape gave me some trouble as well. I have a few more things I’m wanting to do to mine, just gotta find the time.

Is there any way to cut down on the amount of plugs and wires while still keeping your dummy lights and speedo. The amount of plugs and wires just seems unnecessary

Best you can do is just try and hide them better. If you want to keep all the stock running gear you need all those wires

@@DirtRider22a okay thanks. I have an 03 sporty as well and I put new 10” risers on and just been hiding the plugs and wires behind a black bandana wrapped around the bottom but it’s still not as clean as I’d like it to be

@@Tracy_grimm you could cut the plugs off and wire the connections if you need more slack in the cables and then the plugs wouldn’t be there but that’s a lot of soldering to do

I know the video is kinda old but you could clean it up just buy running wiring internally.

You could run the handle bar wires inside the bars but not run the wires along the frame inside the frame

Is there a fuse in that wiring my speedo is dead no light no odometer used a battery charger to start bike after leaving key on all day it clicked once and that's all she wrote everything else works fi e just no speedo
