I ran into the guys from RCBros today in Roseburg Oregon, awesome guys to talk to. I ended up buying a set of the brass stock width Burlytubes.

@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
50 a week is high for a lot of people, I just do it to keep the videos moving for you guys. I don't expect anyone to do it exactly like I do.

Love it already!.. I´m liking more this further in deep mods, I also think you could add a wider hex so the tire clears better the steering rods/screws and gets more stance too.

Great build to date. Tactic has a new 3ch radio system yhat sales for $49 at tower hobbies. Something to look into. Thanks.
@minicooperzoom10 жыл бұрын
If you change your radio I would go with a flysky gt3b and then hack it to 8 channels. They cost about $50 and are already a 3 channel and can go up to 8 channels with a hack. I love mine and it has worked flawlessly for me over the last 2 years.
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
I am not a fan of the Flyskys. Being in the competition side of crawling for so long I appreciate the better radios and their reliability. We have seen a lot of interference and runaway issues with Flyskys when running at large events with many people.
@minicooperzoom10 жыл бұрын
But this is a BUDGET build and the GT3B or GR3C are BUDGET radios which come with 3 channels for transitions, winches, D.I.G., ECT. They also can be hacked relatively easily to 8 channels. Plus they have a pretty good range. I have not had an issue with interference on mine but I only crawl with about 8 people.

I noticed something at the 11:11 mark in this video. It looks like the rod ends are touching the sidewall of the tire. Do you run an adapter for that wheel for offset? I have tried the XR10 shaft mod twice and both times I cut my shafts too short. I will give it another shot after your excellent explanation. Thank you for the great work helping people learn more about the hobby.
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
I don't run anything other than exactly what I showed here. The rod ends may touch just a little but it's not generally a big deal unless they are applying pressure to the sidewall.

While doing a similar project I see that I am not alone when it comes to the Vanquish Products truss mount touching the shock spring. How can this be fixed, where it does not interfere with the shock spring?
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
It isn't something I have found to be an issue. I have never lost a spring cup due to it and it doesn't appear to have any effect on the suspension reaction.

Another great vid. I have seen you use these tube before so they must be a great product. I was wondering you might now. In the currie axles withe the vp locker I am having issues with the axles that came in the wraith kit. The universals just are not long enough. Any suggestions?
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
Axial shortened the tabs from the original version. The VP locker will still work great without tightening the set screws though.
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
The VP VVD is the best axle to go with. The cost has been lowered, the strength has increased and they have a lot of engagement.
@fr8cture10 жыл бұрын
DO you have to drill and tap all burly tubes? I wasn't aware of that.
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
Yup, all of them require drilling and tapping.
@fr8cture10 жыл бұрын
Harley Designs hmm not a fan of that especially not owning a drill press. Figured that would have been something easy to do in production.
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
You can definitely do it with a hand drill, aluminum and brass both drill and tap easily.
@h5ibluntman10 жыл бұрын
Why would you add caster to the front end? Does it cause the tires to push into the ground more because of the caster angle?
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
Blunt Man When comp crawling we found it to give you a nice bit of control and changes the steering feel. I like it when climbing and especially when descending.
@h5ibluntman10 жыл бұрын
ahh i see, well i love the series and your work on other projects as well. I cant wait to implement a lot of these mods into my own scx10 that i hope to pick up soon.

hey bud just wondering any plans on getting rid of the little driver guy for traditional interior
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
wayne nagle possibly down the road. The Wraith interior can be added without too much trouble but there is a huge list of changes to still be made before we get to that point.

Any suggestions on a set of axels that will work well with the vp lockers?

@zStone94110 жыл бұрын
Have you had any issues with being able to pull the universals slightly outward? I've done the wide xr mod with the same parts. And with the knuckles/chubs installedI can slightly pull one of the universals outward. All bearings are seated. Puzzle as too why it does it on one side only.
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
Any play in the universal would be due to the knuckle and bearings. Are you running the same hexes on both sides? May have to grab some calipers and compare measurements from one side to the other to narrow it down.
@zStone94110 жыл бұрын
Yes same hex's. Thats probably what I'll have to do.

Nice Updates! Did the width of the SCX10 Axle change with the installation of the burly tubes?
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
After looking, It is a little less than a half inch wider it appears. Not a big deal and I like the front to be wider than the rear anyway.
@NeonFreakC10 жыл бұрын

What size drill and tap do you use one the tubes?
@HarleyDesignsInc10 жыл бұрын
1130vrscdx1 The proper drill size for 3mm threads is 2.5mm. Or use the closest standard equivalent you have.
