Harman Phoenix Review | What I Learned From 36 Exposures

A review of the brand new colour filmstock by Harman Technology: Phoenix 200! In this video, I go over the specs of the film, including all the info you should know before you use it. I'll also discuss some lessons I learned from the roll I shot, and share my results (both edited and unedited) with commentary. Finally, I discuss the history of Harman the company and explain the confusing interactions between Harman, Ilford, and Kentmere. What is Harman Technology, and what can we expect to see from them in the future?
This video treats film as an art supply first and foremost. It is intended for photographers who use film photography as an artistic outlet and who may be interested in the art-making aspect of analog mediums!

Another film shooter! Happy to have found your channel. Excellent. Thanks for the video. I think what’s more exciting about this film is the fact it will be the tip of the iceberg. Hopefully more more pro level films will come next which will reduce the monopoly that some have on colour films. And in turn that will help reduce the costs a bit hopefully because shooting weddings etc on film really hits your profit margins

Love your results! I have three rolls of Phoenix waiting for better weather (the spring), but I will try all sorts of different lighting conditions not only in bright sunlight. Also a big fan of the history section (as a giant history nerd).

As to my knowledge ilfocolor film is not quite the same as the orwo nc films. It's apparently the same emulsion but coated on a differently coloured Base. It's kinda blue ish compared to the greenish base of the orwo

sadly... in brazil a roll of the cheapest 35mm is 3% of the minimum age, imagine this, working a whole month to buy 30 rolls of film

It is quite a lot for an experimental film for which you’re not sure what the results might be. I agree. I certainly wouldn’t use it for client work. That said, here in the UK that’s still fairly cheap compared Ektachrome and Velvia etc which often retail for £26 and even £34 a roll at one retailer. a pro pack of Kodak Portra 400 is nearly £100 here in the UK depending on the retailer (about £80). The more exciting aspect is the potential for more films to follow that may be more serious contenders to likes of Portra etc
