Thanks Harmen for bringing back all memories from 20 years ago... I did start the journey on 1 Jan 2005, for a 5 day climb, however got really bad altitude sickness at 4800 metres and could not go for the summit night tour. Still I have all amazing memories of the stunning landscape, smels, feelings at Africa's highest mountain.

After the first 10 minutes of the video I knew I was not going to watch the video again. It felt so much an advertisement like you lost your essence. Sometimes I felt like you didn’t even edit the video and someone else directed it. I think that most of your suscribers felt the same way. Sorry you felt like this! Climbing Kilimanjaro was a personal goal for me - such an impressive mountain. From the start I knew this film was going to be different. You're not allowed to climb this mountain solo, so you have to work closely with the locals. With this film I put the focus more on the culture, less on the natural aspects (which are beautiful, but very monotonous). In no way did anyone, not even Himalayan Glacier, influence any of this. I will definitely continue doing solo treks, but I also want to do stuff that personally motivates me, makes me happy and create stuff I'm proud of, not always what the algorithm wants me to make. Hope you understand! Thanks for letting me know.

It is the first time that I would have liked to have heard you speak. 😊 About your experience, the preparation, any special circumstances and requirements, the food, if it is too overcrowded nowadays like other major mountain locations, how many people where there on your trek etc. 😁 As always thank you for all the work and sharing the video. 🙏 PS Strange to see Kilimanjaro (almost) without its characterising white cap.
