You make good analysis videos. As it just so happens, I am orchestrating this piece for a symphony orchestra and have already made it about halfway through the serenade as a whole(I'm smack dab in the middle of the C minor section of the Romanze right now). My Mozart arrangements go by so fast, that I might have the entire piece fully arranged in just a month or two.

If only there was something and pleasant and clear as this available when I did A level music and then an Oxford Music degree in the late 1960s - Very enjoyable to revisit this sort of thing in my old age! Of course there was no KZbin then but one could listen to a recording or score read the piece on the piano which was much harder work!

Well thank you so much for the kind words, I'll add it to the list ;) (it's already quiet a long list haha 🙃) Ye I don't have a lot of subscribers... the reason why is because I don't spam my content everywhere, also the content is quiet theoretical, which scares a lot of people. However I am very happy when someone takes interest and can learn from it, or even be inspired , eventhough it might be a select group of people ;)

Hi If I would like to create based on the piece, what specific point I can learn from the introduction theme?
@TimondeNood6 ай бұрын
Hmm I'm not sure what you mean... Some things you can learn from the characteristic opening theme: 1) question and answer structure 2) the theme is build with skips and no half steps, all the notes of the question in G major are part of the G major chord. 3) the interval from D to G occurs 3 times, the third time it comes in faster. Mozart accelerates the movement. 4) The answer in A minor to D major follows the same rhythmic pattern as the question, but this time, the tail descends. Mozart is really a master in handling this simple and powerful ideas, his craftsmanship is truly amazing. Practicing is the key to master these techniques and creative ideas. Good luck!

Hi! Could you analyse "Fürchtenmachen" (frightening) and "Der Dichter spricht" (the poet speaks) from Schumann's Kinderszenen? I need it for my final exam in music (advanced course). I have to talk 10 minutes about those two pieces and need help.. That'd be great! Greetings from Germany :)
@TimondeNood3 жыл бұрын
Well I think the best way that I can help you in that case, is not to give you an analysis. There are plenty of examples on the channel from which you can deduce enough information to understand those pieces. The hard way is the best way, you will learn the most if you do it yourself
@likeheaven36333 жыл бұрын
Yes you're right about that. But maybe you can help me with one thing.. I thought I could say a little bit about the Kinderszenen, then about their structure and how the titles are implemented in the score, maybe also compare the two pieces. Do you have an idea what else I could talk about? However, I don't want to bother you, of course you don't have to answer.
@TimondeNood3 жыл бұрын
Yes sounds good, the context and Schumann as a composer is also important. Maybe in addition, you could tell your audience what your personal impressions of the pieces are? What you like or maybe even dislike about them? I always try to be honest when approaching a work... Don’t know if is this could help you, maybe it can inspire you. Good luck!

first we create the melodies in the head and then we apply the accompaniment right? How do you compose?
@TimondeNood4 жыл бұрын
Hey Hernan, well first of all there is not really one way of composing. Every person approach might be slightly different. For example: I do not compose melodic lines in my head. I do a lot of impro's at the piano and even more sketches in music notation software. I could start with a few tones of chord and then move them around or give them structure by use of repetition and motivic connections, etc etc. It's hard to explain, I often change my approach though. Try to compose melody while being aware of the underlying harmony (chords), this will help a lot. I think the most useful thing you can do is buy Arnold Schoenberg's book: Fundamentals of Musical composition. That was really an eye opener for me at least. Another thing you can do is analyse what you like in particular musical works, why does a particular melodic mine appeals good to you... Hope this helps!

Interesting analysis but you missed a number of harmonic changes, for example measure 6 and 8 are not I but V. You also miss a number of V/ii chords.
@TimondeNood3 жыл бұрын
m.5 till 8 is a pedal point as I indicate, one can clearly see & hear the I-V alternation. I just didn't bother to write it out

I'm composing a Sonata. What do you recommend me to do?
@TimondeNood4 жыл бұрын
So I answered your previous comment, I'm just gonna say the same here: Schoenberg's Fundamentals of musical composition. And try analysing sonatas that you like, don't start too complex. Try and build from the simple structure onwards... Good luck!

Introduction ||: C Major | G major :|| Developement: ||G minor ->C minor | Dminor -> G minor (ritenuto on G7 chord) || Recapitulation: || C Major | C Major || This worked for me. :) Mozart was very unpredictible in the Developement section of the Sonata. But thats why He was a genius. :)
@hernanphillip3344 жыл бұрын
I have a big question about melody writing... ¿The greaters composers composed the melody from their mind or with methods such like we see in Schoenberg's book? For example, I like listening chopin's and mozart pieces and when I analyzed it I hardly ever find patterns like Schoenberg's books speak about.
@TimondeNood4 жыл бұрын
@@hernanphillip334 That sounds very strange to me, a lot of the theory and structures that Schoenberg explains are to be find in almost all classical composer's work. Question answer-structure: periods, sentence, motives and motivic connection, themes,, repetition, continuity of rhythmic cells, up and down waves with key peaks, use of open intervals vs. steps,.... Take for example this video, Eine kleine nachtmusik, what in this work should Schoenberg not have explained in his book? If this is not clear, maybe you can be more specific in your question, what is it that you see with Mozart and Chopin that is not in the book?
