Thanks for watching my free harmonica lesson on how to play the harmonica major pentatonic scale in 1st position "Harmonica Basics 39: Major Pentatonic Scale in 1st Position Harmonica." If you were wanting to learn the cross-harp major pentatonic scale, go here:
• Harmonica Basics XXIX ...
The major pentatonic scale is a great scale, used in Blues, Rock, Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, Funk, African music, Asian music...you name it! The intervals are Root, Major 2nd, Major 3rd, Perfect 5th, Major 6th.
Here are the harmonica tabs in C:
1st Ocatave:
1+ 1- 2+ 3+ 3-(W) 4+
and descending: 4+ 3-(W) 3+ 2+ 1- 1+
Middle Octave:
4+ 4- 5+ 6+ 6- 7+
and descending: 7+ 6- 6+ 5+ 4- 4+
Top Octave:
7+ 8- 8+ 9+ 10- 10+
and descending: 10+ 10- 9+ 8+ 8- 7+
So all together it's:
1+ 1- 2+ 3+ 3-(W) 4+ 4- 5+ 6+ 6- 7+ 8- 8+ 9+ 10- 10+
And descending:
10+ 10- 9+ 8+ 8- 7+ 6- 6+ 5+ 4- 4+ 3-(W) 3+ 2+ 1- 1+
Then I recommend running sequences such as:
1+ 1- 2+ 1- 2+ 3+ 2+ 3+ 3-(W) 3+ 3-(W) 4+ 3-(W) 4+ 4-(etc.)
