I've always loved that goal at 6:42. They way he positions himself and watches the ball as it rebounds of the keeper, then toes it over the entire defence into the net. Not one of his flashiest but great vision and weight on the touch. Such an amazing player to watch. I just wish Liverpool had discovered him before Man Utd.

@@jamesbradshaw3389 truth is James I was never a football fan , one of my work mates did not believe who I got a job for , so I got him an interview at the kitchen with the head chef , on his first day he was trying to light the oven while cursing it lying on the floor , George came in to the kitchen and said softly , hey do you want me to give it a kick , without turning my freind said na your alright mate , he was# a huge United fan , then he turned and looked up and nearly had a heart attack bless him , George bust out laughing as did we all , true story and what a wonderful boss .

I am a little like you, I have never been to a football matching in my life, I was given tickets several times to go to watch Chelsea, Spurs, Man United and Watford but I never got the time to go to any of those, I have also recently worked on Watford stadium, Going to a match with all those other wild fans was never my thing but I will watch some games on TV, I have great fun with people I know who are very big football fans, as a none expert I find that I am more right with my predictions then they are. I always knew that there was something very special about George as a most gifted player, to me, he was the greatest of all time, George was a kind and gentle soul and was very shy also lonely, George & Phil Lynott were very great friends, they were both extremely talented and yet they were a little like each other in that they were shy men had a bit of looseness about them, they drank to helped to hide that problem.

Was lucky to see him twice in N Ireland's colours. Played Scotland which contained most of Celtics 67 Hero's. He tore them apart. They often said that if he had of been English he would have been regarded as the best player ever. Was also was there the day he kicked the ball out of England keepers hand, robbed.

@@michaeljennings6390 yes you are right about Northern Ireland being robbed of that goal, I am a man united fan so I saw George lots of times at Old Trafford, I remember seeing the game Northern Ireland vs England, on tv, my dad was a Stoke City fan, so of course when George kicked the ball out of Gordon Banks hands my dad said it was no goal, but I said to him, Banks didn't have it in His Hands Dad! because Banksy always threw the ball up in the air before he kicked it and George being the genius he was got his foot to the ball first, flicked it up into the air and into the net! The ref didn't give it but bestie and Northern Ireland were robbed, God bless George.

A truly phenomenal natural talent - two-footed, brilliant in the air and electric pace over 10 yards. I was lucky enough to have seen most of his games at Old Trafford in the 60's and his charisma was indescribable. The first pop star footballer and one of the most talented the game has ever seen.

@@paulanthony5274 Yes, Paulus, I was indeed fortunate to have experienced such an exciting time. The first time I saw United was the start of the 1958/59 season, just after Munich. I can remember it vividly - Chelsea were thrashed 5-2 and Bobby Charlton got a hat trick - one of them a header! I used to turn up at Old Trafford for home games at 12.30 to get a seat in the Stretford End with my best friend Jimmy Curran and we waited for two and a half hours until kickoff, reading and re-reading the programme. The cost of the seat was 1s 6d - 7p in today's money - not bad value! Jimmy was a very talented goalkeeper and joined United straight from school. He played all his games in the Central League (reserve teams' league as it was then) but couldn't break through into the first team as he had goalkeepers such as Harry Gregg, Dave Gaskell and Alex Stepney in front of him. However, he was well thought of at Old Trafford and stayed for over 40 years as youth team coach and physio. In the late 50's I actually lived in a street in a poor part of north Manchester opposite Wilf McGuiness, a promising player who broke his leg at 21 and never played again but became United manager in 1969. He only lasted 18 months before Best gave him a nervous breakdown and Busby took over again! That rough part of Manchester seemed to be a breeding ground for talent in general - besides Wilf, Nobby Stiles, Brian Kidd and Carlo Sartori all came from nearby and Bernard Manning and Les Dawson lived only a few streets away from me. Imagine living opposite a Premier League manager these days! How times have changed. I still enjoy watching football these days but nothing could replace the atmosphere and magic of the 60's. In life you only get the rare glimpse of pure genius and the greatest of all time in sports ….you have it in Kelly Slater surfing Tiger Woods golf Wayne Gretzky ice hockey Sebastian Coe co-mid distance runner and probably now Novak Djokovic in Tennis … and you now have George Best as the greatest soccer player of all time …. You got to also factor in as people have said the heavy leather ball no protection …the conditions the pitch the brutality of the attack and defence and not only that …. sadly he was an chronic alcoholic and how he managed to train and compete at that level … with an ongoing debilitating serious deadly drinking problem … well … that is simply astounding 😮…. Can you imagine if in today’s conditions without drinking how good George Best would’ve been today ….when you factor all that in George Best is and will probably be … even the factoring in Lionel Messi … is the without any argument the greatest football player of all time GOAT 🔥🔥🔥

What a fantastic player George Best was. That ball was like a magnet sticking to his feet and when tackled, not once did he intentionally fall to the ground. Even when he did slightly fall he just got straight up and carried on, not like some of the players we see nowadays falling to ground at the slightest touch and acting like prima donnas on the pitch. His unstoppable runs around opposition players and goals he scored was just mesmerising. He was one of the best players to ever grace a football pitch. Legend is a word that is probably at times used too often but Bestie absolutely deserves to be a legend. RIP Georgie.

Fantastic compilation - thanks a million. George was the greatest the world has ever seen. Lots of comments here pointing out that he did all this with a heavy ball, heavy pitches and brutal defenders, without ever taking a dive. But it’s more than that. Unless you were there at the time it’s impossible to understand his sheer impact - there had been nobody like him. Today, high skill levels are more commonplace, but he was the only one back then, and I don’t think today’s greats would have been anything like the same in those conditions. Pure grace, natural skill and tremendous courage.

I saw George flying down the wing only a few feet away from me...the thrill of a lifetime for a 10 year old.Thanks for taking me that day dad. I just want to add. I went to George's funeral. To see a Footballer get the closest thing to a state funeral was something truly remarkable. To see so many people wear football shirts from other clubs said alot about the admiration rival fans had for him. Many I spoke too who supported other clubs and had seen him play. Said he truly was the Best. The amount of people from all over the UK and Europe who travelled to Northern Ireland that day to pay their respects. Really showed how much he was respected.

Was at that game against Sheffield United as a young lad. Thankfully got down early to que to get in and by ko time there was thousands locked outside..what a goal by Besty and Alan Gowling headed the other goal. Great days..

It was the way he rode the tackles that made him better than the others. When a big tackle came in, he'd spring onto his toes, sometimes even atop the ball for a fraction of a second (when you watch carefully) and avoid being felled. Absolute poetry. Can you imagine him today, people asking "why didn't he go down?" He just didn't have that mentality.

@4:18 lets appreciate the tracking of George that the camera man did. Keeping hin perfectly in frame whilst slowly turning the camera. These were huge machines and something that smooth was hard to achieve even in pre recorded dramas.

I was fortunate enough, and I'm proud enough, to have seen Best play twice: each time away to Huddersfield Town. In the first one he was returning from suspension and played Town off the park. He made the first goal by taking the ball off the Town midfielder, McGill, (close to where I stood) as easily as anything, crossing to Morgan who centred it for Law to smash home. 2-1 to United was the final score. The second one, we were stood behind a goal and it was 0-0 at half-time. Second half and all the goals were scored at the other end: Best, Law, Charlton for 3-0. One of the rare matches in which the holy trinity all scored. What memories.

Yes, it's almost like it's a highlights package. The thing that jumps out is how amateurish the defending was in those days. The second highlight, at 53 seconds in, shows the goalkeeper punting a long ball to the number 9, with four defenders in the vicinity and not one of them approaches within 5 yards of the number 9. Lol, imagine that today with the number 9 having Ramos or VVD or Thiago Silva leaping over him. Best was good by the standards of that era, but players today are lucky to get half a second before they are closed down by two defenders working in tandem.

All 22 players were on the same bad pitches, yet you nostalgia merchants make out like George Best alone was disadvantaged. Modern attackers play on beautiful turf, but so too do the defenders and goalkeepers that they are up against. As long as the conditions are the same for both teams, then the quality of the pitch is irrelevant.

Anyone who was alive back then and cared about football certainly remembers Georgie Best. Awesome ball control. He could see angles clearly and used them to his advantage. Not many could beat him one-on-one. His fabulous runs from one end of the pitch to the other simply amazed onlookers and players alike. With the greatest respect to those Northern Irishmen who played alongside George, they were not in the same class as George, or the Brazilians of that era. One of the greatest to ever play. Pele thought he was an amazing player. I was lucky to meet him when my amateur team from Canada was entered into a tournament in LA when he was a part of LA Galaxy. This was in 1981. Our team was coached by a gentleman who's son played with George on LA Galaxy. On one of our days off, he invited us for brunch to his restaurant. George put on quite a spread for us and we were able to meet the legend. A great player and a great person.

Fantastic compilation which reinforces my opinion that he was the greatest football player ever. Up till about 1971 he was just the best. When I watched Match of the Day any time between 1968 and 1971 I prayed for Man Utd to be on, and if they were I would sit there and keep saying “give it to Best!” because you just wanted to see him with the ball. He had the most amazing ability to time his movement when he was tackled and skip over the opponents legs, he literally skipped over their legs, and he had such good balance that he could ride any knocks that he got. His ability to faint a move and go past an opponent was innate, and his timing when dragging the ball away from another player to dribble past him was immaculate. It wasn’t just about him scoring goals, it was all about his incredible ability to move with the ball. Best was the best.

Pace, skill and cheek made this guy awesome. Unlike many today he used both feet even when dribbling at speed. Also unlike todays players he rode tackles and stayed on his feet rather than crash to the ground at the slightest touch. Together with the swede Roger Magnusson, who played for Olympique Marseille and Jimmy Johnstone, George Best was the best dribbler of the ball in the world during the late 60’s, early 70’s. He was a way more complete footballer than just a great dribbler of the ball, though; courageous, powerful shot, great vision and so much more. One of my all time favorites …

Pelé, Garrincha, Puskas, and Di Stefano were all as good dribblers. Garrincha's dribbling skills were legendary, so either you forgot to mention him or you've not heard of him...

@@CoachNiklas Both Pelé and Garrincha were playing during that time frame. Pelé won the WC with Brazil in 1970.

@@dharmabum9709 Pele was a fantastic overall player but not a pure dribbler of the ball like the three mentioned. Garrincha was basically finished as a top player by 1964, due to a failed knee surgery. Yes, he participated in the World Cup 1966 but just as a shadow of his former self.

What a Player, if your kids or Grandkids, regardless of gender show any talent at football this should be required watching. Ball sometimes looks like it's attached to his boots with elastic and never a hint of a dive. Insane upload, nice work!

Saw him play live a few times, it was hes balance with the ball unbelievable, whenever he got the ball you felt something would happen. What he could have done with the modern light balls not full of water and the bowling green pitches of today, and as for tackles he would have won more free kicks then any one.

A technically brilliant footballer who I was privileged to watch many times in the flesh, but his greatest attribute was his bravery. Best was not a big man, in fact he was small by today's standards, but he got some really rough treatment on the pitch. It was the only way opponents could stop him. Very rarely did I see him react. Nine times out of ten he picked himself up and got on with the game. He was a gutsy lad and for me belongs in the top four or five footballers I have seen in my 60 years of watching the game.

Don't forget, he was 16 when he joined United. Up against BIG guys on the pitch, yet Georgie took the "you-know-what" out of them. He was THE BEST! God bless him. (Oh, I met him once. First and only time I got stuck for words...and I was in my twenties.)

The goal against Chelsea where Ron (Chopper) Harris nearly put him into row Z , he skips him rounds the goalie - is something else. 4mns 57 secs = Bobby Moore 14mns 50 secs = Rainer Bonhoff 16mms The great Dutch midfield of 76 - 77 (2 world cup finals) he is still skinning them even though he is past his sell by date , a true genius if I ever see one. Look out for the multiple videos of 'Best playing home and away versus The Netherlands'. Lastly if George Best would of been English then we would of most probably triumphed at 66 , Mexico 70 and Germany 74
