Shockingly, they actually raced lower formula open-wheel cars at Rouen until the mid 90's! Although that was the only use the track saw in the later years, just that one event each year.
@PlymouthPilgrim1975 Жыл бұрын
Rouen was finally closed in 1994 and almost everything there related to racing was demolished, pit complex, marshal posts, everything. It was, in its own way, an act of cultural and historic vandalism. You'd have to really search to find anything there to mark it at all, unlike at Reims which was in the process of being demolished when the local authorities intervened.

I raced this car combo at Cascavel last night. 15 lap race and probably the most fun I've had racing in my entire sim racing career. That C3 is a handful but it's so evocative of what it's doing, you know exactly when you lose grip and can catch it so easily. I will be doing a series soon with my new R5 I loved it so much.

You've hit the nail on the head of what is my biggest problem with AMS2--a million "different" classes with three cars or less. Half of the fun of this era is the diversity. Where is the 3.0 CSL? Where is the RS2600 Capri? Where is the Cosworth Escort? Where is the Pantera or the Bora? Where is the 914-6? And, that's before you consider all of the other obscure cars of that era. These amazing classes need more diversity.

I’d love for you to do a video on the BMW M13 turbo 4 cylinder powered F1 cars if you’d be keen to do so, the B55 is such a crazy concept of a Grand Prix car. Say what you want about the physics of Project Cars 2, it had a great selection of content. Some great tracks and some tracks that I hadn't seen since Race 07. And that's not mentioning the great car selection, so many classics and modern cars too. I love AMS2 but having so many of the classes just be 2 cars is a big negative for me
@JaggedMercenary Жыл бұрын
Give it a couple more years, it's getting there. AMS 2 is the best thing since GTR2/Race07. Assetto Corsa physics are inferior and no mods will ever fix this. AMS2 is the best all around driving experience in 2023.
@unfortunately_fortunate2000 Жыл бұрын
@@JaggedMercenary not to mention that one of AC's biggest flaws is that you're left guessing what the rear end of any car is doing, once the cars starts to slide AC gives pretty solid info as to if that slide is recoverable or not but leading up to it is a bit of a guessing game, regardless of what your sim setup is. AMS2 is one of the only sims I've played that actually gives FFB that is able to trick my brain into understanding both what the front and rear end of a car is doing and does so in an impressively smooth way, I've never tried Iracing but I've heard similar stuff however it seems a bit more dependent on having a better wheel setup than I currently own. maybe there is still too much grip in certain instances, maybe it isn't the most "realistic" simulation out there on a lap to lap basis but it gives a solid representation of what racing is and is incredibly entertaining.
@unfortunately_fortunate2000 Жыл бұрын
I mean, a lot of those one or two car categories pair up pretty well with others, how the classes are put together and separated can be a bit odd at times but the fact that Reiza is working on making the mod community for this game an actual thing does a lot to resolve this issue.

It is interesting to note the option for snow and ice is part of the track. However, if this option is used and you then switch to another track without removing the snow/ice weather, the game will crash. This is not a reportable bug, but something of which to be aware until the official content supports snow and ice.

Well, sort of. It's not the 1950-54 version of the course. It's the 1972-94 course, without the chicane at Six Freres, however. Yes, as far as I'm aware, the hairpin was always cobbled. The pit apron for Rouen in GPL is definitely too wide, but the track itself isn't as exaggerated. Those '67 F1 cars no wider than this Corvette, and sitting so much lower, the road is going to look a lot wider than from out of this car. Thankfully, we have Sergio Loro's Rouen for AC. Yeah, the BMW or Ford would be nice. The Group 2/4 Capri looks sharp. They put a chicane in at Gresil in 1971, and at Six Freres in '74. Reims really was the French GP circuit of the '50s and '60s. Rouen is kind of an in-between, and then you have the wild technicality and elevation changes of Clermont Ferrand. He needs to turn on his lights. Yes, this was good fun to watch.

Really hope that Reiza will start putting more effort on historic sports cars. The F1 fleet is already pretty damn good and fun. Maybe an early 70's prototype class and one or two GT or slower sportscars for variety. That and the oval AI and I can see myself playing this game for years. IIRC PC2 had Porsche 917k and Ferrari 512 so there's an idea.

I can't test this cause I currently do not own a functioning PC but I feel as though some of the weirdness/deficiencies with the AI may be due to them no "knowing" how to setup the cars to a modded track, regardless it's something that'll almost certainly get better with some updates to the mod plus the continued work Reiza does to the AI itself.
