Thanks Ashley. I didn’t use a compound. I used Cartect 9000 with microfibre cutting pad from Lake Country. I was relying on the cutting from the pad. Used Cartect 9000 and orange LAKE country pad for the rest 👍🏼

Sorry for a stupid question from an amateur, but would it be possible to hand polish the piano black trim between the doors? With for example Auto Finesse Tripple.

You can polish them with Auto Finesse triple, but it won’t likely remove the swirls but will definitely increase the gloss 👍🏼

Nick When spraying chemicals, any chemical, use face mask, 3m face mask and goggles for your eyes Or try to stay against where the wind blows You never going to be this young and healthy, as you age you will realize the little mistakes that we all do, and then you will look back and … Good job! If working in a non ventilated area then I usually wear a PP2 mask which blocks VOC. the coating I use is VOC free, which is one of the reasons I use it 👍🏼 You can’t see if the video but I hold my breath when using the wheels cleaners and tar removers

Hi mate is the not a danger of every time you machine polish you risk removing the protective coating from the paint work on the car? Just curious

There is a possibility but not likely with a DA machine, unless you are constantly catching the edges. The fine scratches are in the clear coat, so when polishing you have to remove microns of the clear coat in order to remove the defects. Modern cars typically have 100-140 microns of clear and I’ll only be removing 2-3, so plenty to work with 👍🏼

I’m afraid that isn’t a ceramic coating, it’s a wax. It will typically last around 3 months 👍🏼

Ahh, they have a ceramic coating, but sounds like a lite version. I’m guessing they didn’t machine polish the paint given that it only took 2.5 hours. The coating is £65 quid so make sure they have actually used it as sounds to good to be true 👍🏼

No way ceramic coating is going to be this cheap. I had my MY23 RR Eiger Gray ceramic coated for USD1200 and I thought I did OK.

Am I missing something but as it's such a new car, why does it need to be polished and clay barred so soon? Is it because you were preparing it for a ceramic coating

New cars unfortunately come with defects either from the factory or when they have been ‘prepared’ at the dealership. Cars such as Ferrari, Aston and Lamborghini come with pretty bad sanding marks from the factory which ideally need to be removed. I only lightly clay as even though the cars are new they could have been sat in a lock up for a while or brought by freight which adds contamination to the car 👍🏼

This isn’t to bad compared to some other new cars I’ve worked on! It tends to be the more expensive the car, the worse the paintwork!
