Harrier Farewell Gütersloh 27.11.1992

Startende Harrier auf der Bahn in Gütersloh, insgesamt 10 Maschinen, 9 für die Diamond-Nine-Formation plus ein Fotoflugzeug, sammeln sich und überfliegen zum letzten Mal die Basis Gütersloh und verschwinden. Dieses denkwürdige Ereignis fand statt am 27.11.1992.

I flew the 10th Harrier in this video. I was there to make sure the formation looked symmetrical; ready to transmit "no 4: move forward 2 feet" and the like. In fact, the 4 Squadron pilots didn't need any "whipping in". Their formation was spot on right from the start, and stayed that way all the way to RAF Laarbruch. Those were the days....

Really sad to not see these anymore.i did two tours with the harriers,wildenrath and gutersloh,so so sad no more.

I was here as a teenager when my father worked at 3 squadron. Whilst I liked going around the camp and watching the harries and swimming in the open air pool other than that it was the worst experience ever this posting as a 13 year old boy. Educated at Kings School on Manser Barracks was helish. So glad when it closed and could get back to normality at Lossiemouth in Moray.
