@@kahallett9394 The problem is not a local politician or a delayed transaction to request help. The problem exists since years ago with a decaying Grid and electricity generation unable to supply enough energy in sunny days much less on winter storms. Abbott promised Texas to tighten regulation on ERCOT thru PUC (Public Utility Commission) after more than 70 people died in TX during the winter storm. He also gave us his "Thoughts and Prayers"... Years later, Texas population (regardless of political affiliation), still waiting for underground cabling, protected transformers, enough generators, etc Electric poles with cables dangling between them are early 1900 technology. Houston needs underground cabling inside sealed pipes because of floods. ERCOT chooses to spend money during natural disasters instead of forking the money needed for upgrades. They measure risks and compare against costs... 💥🇺🇲💥

No! It is not her fault and she is not a technician!! What short memory we have. That is one of the reasons why politicians can do whatever they want!! Another reason is DIVISION... Please read below (I don't know if you live in Houston, I am) ☆☆☆☆☆☆ Day 5 "Off-Grid" (no power 77077) We still have -late 19th Century technology- electric poles for cables on rural areas and cities, exposed transformers and unprotected generators (from air, rain and winter)... I am not sure if ERCOT includes every company that owns the infrastructure in Texas, but they have had *plenty of time* to rebuild, modernize and ultimately develop a network that has the capacity to supply the growing demand and a reliable grid across our State. My comments are not about "bashing" or calling for people to be fired... the intention is to instill in the companies the will to Build systems with the high-quality that American ingenuity and American products used to have.. ● A few years ago, more than 70 people died during a winter storm. Generators, transformers and cabling could not cope with temperature and ice... The same thing can happen on sunny weather with the existing infrastructure. Our governor and officials sent "thoughts and prayers" and a promise to push electric companies under ERCOT to update the grid. After his reelection, Texas is still waiting ☆☆☆🇺🇲☆☆☆

People have already been running gas power generators for several days, safely or not. Isn't it a bit late to remind them the hazardous of carbon monoxide? The fire marshal should have sent message out even before the day one of the hurricane.

The restoration map is not professional. It is difficult to locate a specific area. It does not support to search an area by zip code or by address, which is essential in particular since many lack good resources for computer or cellphone to navigate this dumb web application during the power outage.

And I notice they change the color schema for the map. The blue color at first indicated assessment is completed with a plan to restore. After a couple of days, it changed to assessment is completed. The next step is green. There is no longer a status that indicates a concrete plan to restore is set up. I guess this change of color schema would result more blue percentage, a smart move for the convenience of achievement claims. I volunteer to work with Center Pointless to investigate how much they spent for this map of so little user friendness.
