Children involved with the child welfare system have experienced adversity, early harm, toxic stress and/or trauma. Because of their histories, it's sometimes difficult for these children to trust the loving adults in their lives, which often results in perplexing behaviors. Access to attachment-based, trauma-informed care is vital for parents, professionals, caregivers, teachers or anyone who works with these children.
Trust-Based Relational Intervention Training (TBRI®) is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children and was developed by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University.
Through the Harris County TBRI® Collaborative, professionals and caregivers in the Houston area can access helpful tools and principles to help them empower, correct, and connect with the children in their care.
