Very informative Pete, I think whatever stage you are at in falconry there is a lot to learn from your content; I know I find myself saying to the most simple of things, why didn’t I think of that when watching your videos.

Great video, I can't wait to see Woody hunting again this year. He's such a handsome hawk, he's looking great after his moult. I'm in the process of building and getting everything I need for my FHH, I'm so excited. I'll be lucky enough to be able to hunt most days in the season because I'll be doing pest control and the winter hours are based around hunting! Hoods are the most misunderstood part of a falconer's toolkit. I feel like I have a unique perspective on them because I have autism/ADHD and I get overstimulated by sound, I understand how your senses can completely overwhelm you. Their eyes are so much more powerful than our own that the hood is a kindness in some situations.

That’s very interesting about Autism and ADHD , I bet the hawk feels similar at times. We wish you well with your new adventures, I’m sure you will do well and understand the hawks mind and needs. The hood is not used in a lot of cases where a hawk wood benefit, very true words you use. Take care and thank you for commenting.👍

@@freebirdofreason1994The other example I use is noise cancelling headphones in noisy work environments with heavy machinery, human ears aren't made for that! Thank you, I feel like I understand birds better than people to be honest, they're more honest and slightly more predictable 😂

Great explanation of the manning and weight management. We’ve slowly brought Runa’s weight down over the past few weeks and now she’s jumping to the glove and eating from us in her mews. Hoping to get her out on the creance soon! Like you said we don’t call her to the fist from her bow perch, instead we use a high T perch when starting out with the creance in the garden. Looking forward to seeing Woody free flying again.
