The most important thing is a basic understanding how each ship’s shell arcs, velocity and dispersion works. Once you have an idea how your shells travel, it makes things easier. Then you know with this, you’ll have a better idea when to leave the aim on vs off. It also depends on the device you are playing on. I play on a tablet so it’s much easier to see the long range ships vs playing on a smaller phone screen.

To make things stupid simple for me, whenever I go auto aim off I like to get on target with auto aim on. This way all I have to do is turn it off and shoot. I immediately turn it back on so I can readjust. That being said, I only play BB’s so this may not help higher DPM ships

Gonna make me revisit putting that button on my screen again. I mostly play a dd so for me, having this button can be a problem just because as a dd, im not really looking to citadel something. I'm more just trying to keep my shells on target while I'm weaving around dodging their fire. I feel like this option is more for battleship and heavy cruiser players using AP rounds. Another good video❤

It's really useful for light cruisers as well. When you can get consistent full pen hits plus a citadel here and there from 152 MM guns quick reloading, your DPM is insane. The trick is switching from HE spamming to AP at the right distance so you can get full pen hits (and sometimes you can't get in that range safely). It's tricky but using small Caliber AP effectively really raises the skill ceiling on most CLs

@slai47 Fun fact during testing, you actually get a better overall dispersion. Auto aim messes with your turret angles by a small enough but noticable enough margin. Why? For some dumb reason the dispersion on turrets are based upon player perspective on the client side of the game.

I've heard that but never found it to be 100% certain. I have found ripple fire to decrease the dispersion more consistently.

Nice video, one thing to look into. At around 3:30 you say that full pens with HE equal more fires. I don’t believe this is the case. I think that half pens have an equal chance of causing a fire as full pens.

Thank you! So half pen HE has half the fire chance from what I've been told from CIC developers and other CCs.

Anecdotally I've always suspected that full pen hits have a greater fire chance, but I never got around to testing it in the training room.

I'll be honest, I go back, and forth messing with it. It honestly just becomes something that gets in my way like when I need to swipe my thumb in that area. I also find myself messing with on off ultimately adding a layer of added attention that I could probably have used to dodge a shell, or pay attention to the map etc. Personal experience, also can we get Steve talk louder than a whisper on his appearances ? It makes me feel uncomfortable like I'm being seduced 😂
