Yes, the cake by the slice is a lovely one off treat (especially the chocolate one - so a friend tells me :)) Thanks so much for watching and commenting :)

THANK YOU, STEVE! so great simply to look at all this. If one day my wonderful doctor (and friend) says, "Joseph, you wanted me to be honest always, Buddy, you have about two months, maybe less" , I am going to take my credit card, go to a nice hotel in London and just hang out at Harrods, eating, buying a few things, having coffee and eating again. If that happens I do hope it is around Christmas!
@LondonVisited2 жыл бұрын
Now that has to be a plan - just also have that limitless credit card ready........ :)

Last time I visited London. Had a coffee and cake at the food hall cafe counter. Then bought food to take back to my hotel and had a picnic dinner: potato salad, egg salad, cooked schnitzel (love a well done cold schnitzel) and also bought a dessert. Was fun. Hang the expense: it’s not done every week so it was enjoyable. Do the same every time I go to London every few years.
@LondonVisited2 жыл бұрын
What a great idea, yes I love that coffee bar - if not only for people watching! Love the picnic and yes got to go for it every so often! Thanks for watching and commenting :)

Favorite part - was the chocolate hall! My first time in Harrods was in the 90s. I walked into the Food Section and saw this incredible ice sculputure. Cannot remember what time of the year that was. Love your genuine commentary!

P.S. All of the food selection was *gorgeous - dense, unctuous, terrifically high quality. -Couldn't choose a favorite "section" - just a question of mood: savory or sweet. With a nice wod of cash, I'd probably go for both.

Firstly, can I just say you’re an absolute delight to listen to. Your enthusiasm is enough to put a pep in anyone’s step :) I found it interesting actually that you mentioned Harrods pricing, as I watch another KZbinr (Hannah Ricketts) who films occasional Harrods videos, & I have to say, although on the higher price end, it’s certainly not out of budget for your ‘average Joe’ individual for a special treat or occasion, which I remember being shocked by when I first watched one of Hannah’s videos last year. My great grandfather had an account with Harrods (oh how the mighty have fallen 😂), he had enough money to put my Dad & his siblings through boarding school, & they’d go to places like Harrods & Selfridges on occasion & ‘put it on his account’ (could you imagine!!!) My Dad remembers it being very ‘posh’ back in the day (& very expensive), & I’ve always had that notion it would be a place just to gander at rather than shop in, so I was pleasantly surprised! I have to say.. I’m often drawn to the bakery & the sausage roll section, it is how I keep my slim figure after all hahah! I lost my beautiful mum very suddenly 14 weeks ago, & my Dad & I are hoping to go on days out, he’s all I have left now & I’m disabled so I wanted to create some memories with him. I do worry about the crowds in Harrods, when do you think would be the best time to go? Thank you so much for a lovely walk around! I’m off now to have a nosey at your other lovely videos. Take care & all the best! x
@LondonVisited2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for finding us and also for your time on the comments as well, really appreciated. Funnily enough I have seen some of Hannah's videos too. It's so like anything if you look around you can get things at normal prices. It's a shame that the smell doesn't come out on video but the bakery was amazing. Sorry to read about your mum and hope you and your Dad are doing as well as you can. I think the best time to visit is when it first opens Monday to Friday, as not so busy. Avoid the weekends but if thinking going then - I'd suggest first thing Saturday morning. Take care and once again thank you so much for watching.

Ohhhhh, we just found your Harrods Food Hall video. Because of a family crisis, we could not travel last year nor again this year. What we would give to fly back to London. Harrods! Best food in the world! Our favorite is their crème brûlée. Simply out of this world! ❤🎉😊

The creme brulee always looks so lovely but I can recommend the cheese cake as that is amazing. Sorry to read that you couldn't get over last year and hope all is okay with your family. Thanks so much for watching 👍😀

Whenever I was in London, I’d always go to the Harrods Food Halls at least once and pick up a few things so I could have a little “picnic” later on at my hotel. I’d buy some gorgeous cheese (usually two types), some duck mousse or pâté, and some lovely crackers like Jacob’s Cream Crackers. I used to look forward to that little “picnic”. It was always such a delight to walk around the Food Halls.

In the US, we have a lovely beautiful food market called Fresh Market. The best of the best in every way. This lovely Harrods reminds me of Fresh Market. And not cheap, but the highest of quality!! But at the end of the day, I would say that Harrods food market is just a teeny tad above Fresh Market for sure.

Love the food hall. 😋 you didn't spend enough time showing the cheese 😒 hall. This is where things would change when I win the lottery. Gone would be the shy,quiet, introverted me and the wild crazy 🤪😜 one would appear. The bliss of knowing you can buy anything you want. I would spend most of the time ⏲️ with cheese 🧀, ☕ and 🍵 and of course the dessert 🍨😋 and 🍫🍦🍩🍪. I wouldn't want to spoil some of them by eating them. I wonder what the most expensive coffee tastes like. Looking forward to the Christmas 🎄😀😊😄☺🙂 food hall.

And Lesley when we do the food hall then I'll make sure to linger on the cheese for longer 🧀🧀🧀 I love the difference winning money would make, the plan is in place and now it's getting the magic numbers right 😀👍 Thanks as always Lesley 😀👍

I actually was at Harrods in 1998. The prices were ridiculously high, and way over the top for nothing of real interest. Yes I purchased a couple of things that I could break up to give as gifts.
@lesleysmith512 жыл бұрын
That was cruel 😢 as I face coffee ☕ and peanut 🥜 sandwiches 🥪 as usual. My favorite section was definitely the cheese 🧀 area. I miss 😢 the wide variety of cheese 🧀 in America 🇺🇸. I would quite happily 😊 spend a night 🌙 in there for a week or two and just eat as much as I want free of charge of course. I might eat fairly healthily here and there on some of the fruits and veggies and salads here and there 😋. I wouldn't even mind putting on some weight as it 😅 would be for a good cause. I would even take some gifts 🎁 for people so it wouldn't be just about me. I would even put them in the green Harrods bags to give them the status symbol. I just want the 🧀. (Sorry about all the emoji but this is my only device that does them so I get a bit carried away 😅)

Harrods far better then Fortnum. Harrods is special but also has more practical stuff in the food hall. Fortnum is too small, too crowded and too many tourists (Harrods has tourists of course but seems to absorb them better with its space). I love it all. But the bakery and cake area is my favourite and the cooked salt beef/roasts sandwiches. I actually after Harrods like the Selfridges food hall before Fortnum.
@LondonVisited2 жыл бұрын
Yes much more open and a great flow! I was in the Selfridges food hall just a few hours ago and it so much better now that it is brighter plus a number of different places to eat there as well! :)
