I've watched all those "7 Up" documentaries over the decades. This is the perfect parody of them. The social class attitudes in those programs are used to great comedic effect here.

Although it's a comedy it is reality in Britain. The class system is one of the worst things about life in the UK.
@AntonHu4 жыл бұрын
@@pennywatson8710 Disagree. Class is rife in Britain - a van driver will sneer at a street sweeper, for example. Didn't realise till I lived in Germany and got a comparison. Mind you they are getting there - snobbery seems to be endemic in western society, and UK has had longer without being invaded to develop it.
@Codex77774 жыл бұрын
The class system is pretty much in every country, tbh.
@Codex77774 жыл бұрын
@Blue Terrace - It's recognised more in the UK and there are anachronistic elements left over from the genuine class system of earlier centuries. I'm not sure how much more inherent it is compared to other countries. A major difference between Britain and some other countries, especially those that got rid of their official monarchies and aristocracies, is that class isn't necessarily defined by money alone. Though it's still the most important defining feature. However it's interesting to note that even in countries with no official aristocracies, unofficial aristocracies have established themselves. Also interesting, is the fact that America, which prides itself on having no monarchy or aristocracy and on the idea of social mobility, as espoused in the, 'American Dream' actually has worse social mobility and far worse income and wealth disparity than most of Northern and Western Europe. Including the UK. Yet they view themselves and to a certain extent are viewed as, a 'classless society. It's a difficult thing to pin down exactly - class. :)
@olliefoxx71653 жыл бұрын
@@Codex7777 You're a bit off in your assessment of America. Yes, we have an unofficial aristocracy however we arent stratified as Britain. A person can still get ahead and move upward or downwards. We are much more open to movement socially and economically. Keep in mind we have over 330 million people, 50 states and additional territories. You cant just paint a country as big as ours by looking at a small slice seen in the media. The media isnt reflecting huge swaths of the country.
@Codex77773 жыл бұрын
@@olliefoxx7165 - I wasn't. Nice straw man though. ;) OVERALL social mobility is worse than in most of Northern and Western Europe. The 'American dream hs been a myth for well over half a century. It's a convenient myth for the establishment though. The few that do make it are publicised and lionised, to make it look like it's real.
