I had the pleasure of meeting an old time fighter on the street in NYC in the early 1980’s. My guess was he was about 80 years old at that time and you knew right away what he used to do for a living. Short guy, maybe about 5’6”, flat nose, scar tissue, cauliflower ears and still solid as a rock. His last name was Terranova, unfortunately I forget his first name, his brother was Phil Terranova a former champ. I asked about the old time fighters and specifically Greb. He knew them all. His response regarding Greb was simple and without hesitation, “tough, tough, tough, triple tough son of a bitch.”

You just need to watch the film of Greb training to realise what a great fighter he was .
@hardlineboxingtalk75424 жыл бұрын
He also was larking around, not even training properly
@Boxeo2503 жыл бұрын
He was already showing shit ton of techniques despite playing around.

My Grandfathers cousin fought Greb and I’ve always been fascinated by him, I recommend the book “ Give him to the Angels”, and Mickey Walkers autobiography is great too regarding details about the Human Windmill 🥊
@st.schochko98223 жыл бұрын
Give Him to the Angels by James Fair is an insult to Grebs life and career. The book was full of fabrications and outright lies and is one of the main causes of all the myths and falsehoods surrounding Greb to this day. The book has been pulled due to threats of lawsuits by Grebs family. If you’re going to read on Harry Greb Live Fast Die Young by Steve Compton is the book you’d want to read.

It's like trying to fight an angry bear. Great review of Greb and with the calibre of the people making these comments just reinforces how scary this man was. Great testimony BL👍🥊

Greb was essentially a middleweight Aaron Pryor.
@hardlineboxingtalk7542 Жыл бұрын
Yes he was a great fighter. Greb had a high work rate like Pryor but he constantly moved, moved all the time like a Usyk bouncing around, less technical than Usyk but very quick and hard to hit. The one addition greb had over pryor he also was aggressive with his head, his elbows. He had a near obsessive desire to win
@geoffJG16 жыл бұрын
Greb's style is such that under compubox standards I can't see how he could lose a fight over 12,15 or as in the real old days 45 rounds or till you stopped a la 100 rounds.

I read in his book that he could've been a long distance runner because he would run a lot of miles for stamina.
