So I have a list of ships that never sailed my top 2 are Supercorp and of course Harmione. JK wrote the most organic relationship I've ever read and seen. The way these 2 slowly but surely came closer and closer was so perfectly written. Even Book 6 didn't do a good job at separating them. Hermione Granger was one of 2 people that Harry truly allowed to hold him, think on that. Harry was an abuse victim who often didn't like being touched. Only 2 people were able to do it without consent, Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley. Only 2 people ever threw themselves in front of Harry to protect him, Harmione Granger and Ginny Weasley. Only 2 people could feel what Harry was feeling, Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley. But for all of you Ginny fans, keep in mind, he let Hermione do all of these things way before Ginny was a blip on his radar. What that tells me is that JK saw the chemistry she created with Harry and Hermione and basically in Books 5 and 6 wrote Ginny to match that.
