Can't stop listening intently to hear all the slight intonation changes and very slight syncopations as well as the layering of his vocals. So very many vocal techniques combined.

Oh this one is an Ear Worm for sure Harry Nielsen had an extraordinary voice and wasn't afraid to change different genres Great reaction. I never looked at this tune philosophically 😅

Back in the early 70s when this song was popular-the soft drink 7Up used this song in a commercial but changed the word coconut to cola nut. 7UP was a lemon lime soft drink and not a cola-so their slogan was that they were the uncola. Put a lime in the cola-nut.

Possible drinks with lime and coconut water: A cocktail made with tequila, coconut water, lime, and ice or Coconut Water and Lime Rickey: A drink made with coconut water, lime juice, club soda, stevia, and bitters There are a number of concoctions with lime and coconut water, Too much of these could cause a belly ache, LOL. This is such a fun song! I think Nilsson was having a bit of fun with us the listener.

One of the final years of the Bones tv series (or a bit earlier) had a loved character die and at the end of the show while seeing his coffin placed in a hearse for return to his mother in the Uk the whole acting crew sang the character's favorite song. Coconut.

Hey Saeed, One of those quirky fun songs that I love! "It hurts to try and figure this out" I about fell out of my chair when you said that! Ha!Ha!Ha! It doesn't take a whole lot to amuse me! I think your sense of humor is pretty awesome! In the beginning, when you first started this channel, you were quite shy, now you seem to have gotten ahold of that are more outgoing and confident! I find it fascinating to watch people grow!

@@SaeedReacts. Well, you couldn't be more welcome! I mean every word I ever say to you! My son may one day visit Belgium. He's been trying to visit all of the safe countries, do you feel your part of your country is safe? You said you were in the southern part didn't you? I am just a curious person with alot of time on my hands! If he ever does go there I want him to bring you something, an album I've had since the 1970's. Maybe the sixties, I'm waiting to see who you like the most. Even the artwork on some of these albums make them very appealing to the eyes, and they go up in value every day! I've been waiting for you to list a P.O. box so I could send you something but unless I'm overlooking it I don't see one anywhere! Deb

Someone once said this is the only charting single to use just one chord from beginning to end ... a C7 supposedly. Maybe the music majors can confirm this.
@SpuzzyLargo8 күн бұрын
Although it reached only #61 on the charts, per Wikipedia, Steely Dan's "Show Biz Kids" has only one chord: Dm7.

And I think "Chain of Fools" by Aretha also has just one chord.

Hey Saeed, as mentioned before, Harry was friends with the Beatles and maybe you can hear the influence/tributes in his songs as you get to know them. Harry was the Beatles favorite American singer! Nilsson was a master of using his voice with different sounds, tones and frequencies and being very playful...as you heard with how he sang the word "doctor" in so many different ways. In case you or anyone wants to see the video that goes with this song and all the gorillas in it, here it is. Who knew that Gorillas could play musical instruments and sing! Quite fun! He did not take himself that seriously--at least not in his music. Like many, he struggled with addiction. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipPKp2uGoLRsm9E Even a few moments of watching the video will make you laugh!! ha !
@JayCross7 күн бұрын
You can hear John Lennon's voice joining in the 'Doctor' calls. I think this song is about a doctor giving irritated bad advice to someone who calls him in the middle of the night.

One of the best if not the best male vocalist along with Freddy Mercury in my lifetime. Only Harry is singing in this song. Crazy vocal range, at least until he blew out his vocal cords playing around with John Lennon.

@ Saeed, if you like to have fun, like storytelling and deep thinking, you should dive into Dr. Hook. (no, not "Sylvia's Mother") Try "Carry me, Carrie", "Everyone is making it big but me", "Life ain't easy", "The words I didn't say", "The Cover of the Rolling Stone", or their cover of "The Eyes of Lucy Jordan". In my opinion, the most underrated group in history.
