I agree, this is definitely one of the best looking and functional bikes on the market. The only reason I had to rule this one out from purchase is the geometry. My body type is best suited for the classic Cervelo “long and low” frame geometry. The Argon leans more toward the “short and high” side of the spectrum. Great for folks with longer legs, shorter torsos, and limited hip flexibility.

@@GrouEEf I ended up not buying anything. :) I determined that I could fit on either a Cube Aerium C:68x, which has the best geometry, or a Canyon Speedmax with a bit of a compromise. Neither are in-stock and available to me here in the Southeastern US, so I just stick with what I have for now.

I enjoyed your review of this bike. I have the Argon 18 E-118 Tri+ and at the time I believe it was the second lightest UCI Legal TT bike (17.83lbs) behind only the Pinarello Bollide My bike is very good for climbing and is very snappy and responsive. It's crazy to think how much the bike design was changed so much over the course of about two years.

I have this bike, still in honeymoon phase, but agreed best looking bike. I built with 1x12 SRAM force, Sync aero front chain ring, ENVE SES 7.8 wheels and let me tell you (coming from a Felt IA10) this bike is insanely fast. Same power output has me on average about 1mph faster. Being a strictly triathlon bike it’s going to be heavier than UCI legal bikes, but it will have the aero advantage, and for triathlons specific bikes it is quite light without completely breaking the bank (most of the super light bikes are 3-6k more) . So whether 1kg savings or being more aero is totally rider and course preference. I’m like you, I don’t like big elevation courses, so for me this bike is insane. Coming from a “mid tier” bike; I can’t really find anything I don’t like. Also I work with a world class bike fitter, and he has a high opinion of it (adjustability is actually quite good for a super bike), it’s fairly easy to take apart for travel, etc. I do agree though if you're already making a slightly heavier triathlon bike, why not utilize the frame a bit more for hydration or storage. With that said the inside the frame flat kit is money and keeps this bad boy looking so clean.

I also have this bike. The stem cap rubber-fixture-thingies -- lost them very quickly. There is a running change for this frame, where they have been replaced with screws, which is the way it should have been done from the start. On my bike the stem cap is held in place with duct tape. I have a very different experience with base bar rubber grips though. I'm not a very experienced TT rider -- this is my first TT bike and I had it for about 2 years, so maybe it's just me. However, I started wearing gloves on all of my rides, including the races, because when my palms get sweaty, grabbing those is ... well not very confidence inspiring, let me put it this way. I probably would have preferred having a bar tape there, because then you can choose the tape that fits your individual needs.

I have the same bike just in "Dig Me Beach' color and the Enve 7.8 wheel set, SRAM RED drivetrain and a red CeramicSpeed OSWP. I pretty much agree with everything you said. Though I don't really find weight being an issue and I certainly wouldn't want the P5. Can't stand the look that bike. You could have shown the tool pouch that comes with the bike and fits in the down tube storage area. It's pretty clever. And yes the blip box cover is a straight up design flaw - but everything else about the bike I absolutely LOVE!!!

Funny how you sort of mentioned the P5 and did a small head to head comparison. I did a toss up between a speedmax, P5 and the exact bike you have. I ended up with the P5 as it was extremely light compared to the other two, but just as fast. I solved the onboard storage with the stuff radsport ibert makes for the P5. However for the price, you really cannot go wrong with the Argon if you mostly do flat rolling course races

What do you think of the effectiveness and quality of the braking system? I come from the E119 Tri+ rim brake version, unfortunately destroyed in a bad crash. but today the insurance compensation arrived and I'm looking for a worthy replacement! Thank you!

Hello Harry, Sorry for my bad English. I'm thinking about buying a bike like yours, but I have some questions. I am 179cm tall and have a leg length of 86cm. How tall are you? And leg length? What size frame do you use? Thank you for your time and congratulations, I love your channel

Interesting, from your review my takeaway is, could be more like a Canyon Speedmax 🤣. It would look better then as well, but more popular in transition 🤪. Canyon haven’t paid me to write this review either.

Harry - what the size of your frame - I am 1m84 with inseam 90cm still hesitating between M/L for the e117 tri disc- thx a lot
@yogatriathlete
@yogatriathlete 7 ай бұрын
Definitely get the L. I'm 1m83 so I'm also between sizes. The L will be better mainly because of the top tube length. At your height, you will need the longer top tube or your position will be too compact for a modern aero/comfortable position
@slot923
@slot923 5 ай бұрын
@@yogatriathletethx man - would you go for the L or XL given my height and inseam ? Thx
@yogatriathlete
@yogatriathlete 5 ай бұрын
@@slot923 That's a good question. Normally I would say get a size L (57-59) for your height, but at 1m84 with a 90cm inseam it means proportionally you have long legs / short torso. Saddle height will not be an issue with either size, it's more about stack and reach. With your saddle height, you might end up with too much drop to the aerobars. The good thing about the e117tri disc is that it comes with Profile Design aerobars which are highly adjustable. The extensions are very long so you'll be able to get enough reach, and you can always get compatible Profile Design spacers to raise the arm-rests and aerobars high enough if you need to. I think the best thing would be to talk to a bike fitter that's experienced in setting up TT/TRI bikes to help you figure out which size you need

@@yogatriathlete thx man - just bought the e118 in L after doing a bike fit - was wondering how close/far your knees need to be from your elbow when pedaling - might need to move bars forward and up a bit
@yogatriathlete
@yogatriathlete 5 ай бұрын
@@slot923 Excellent! I really like that bike. Nobody really measures that distance anymore. That's how bike fitting was done a long time ago. Basically you want to be "stretched out" and somewhat "high" on the front end. You should not have any 90 degree angles, your arm angles should be open beyond that, and your elbows and hands close together (comfortably). If your aerobars are too low, you will need to lift your head up to look forward which makes you less aero and is uncomfortable for the back of your neck, so definitely keep it on the high side. This will give you a more open hip angle too which will be better for both comfort and producing power. And, having a long setup - aerobars and arm rests far forward for a long reach - is also more aero and comfortable compared to riding too compact - and makes it much easier to ride with your elbows closer together. Hopefully this will give you a good start

Honestly I think the Canyon's (all of them) and Cervélo's look better. But that's obviously a personal preference. It would be weird for you to say you don't like how the bike looks especially when you bought it yourself haha
