My sisters would watch The Ring a lot of the time while also watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with me and friends at times, back when both movies came out. I remember once on a TV channel, The Ring was scheduled to play right after a scheduled showing of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The story involving how Myrtle died in the bathroom and how the basilisk can kill you, and also how the people in The Ring died, the creepiness of it all made Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets that much more chilling, especially because the basilisk and Samara Morgan can both kill you the same way: death stare into your eyes! The basilisk can only kill you if you look it in the eye directly, meaning not through a glass window, not at a reflection of the basilisk in a mirror or in water, not through a ghost, etc. Samara Morgan also has to show up face-to-face to kill you by looking you in the eye I think. Pretty random, but yeah the similarities were chilling. I even got scared or creeped out or full of suspense when playing the video game of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, due to the creepy prefects theme and having to sneak past the prefects, and when you hear the basilisk’s voice from within the walls. Also, I can only wonder if Myrtle’s dead face was also frozen in terror and in a distorted way after the basilisk killed her. There was another scary deformed/distorted facial look in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when Nagini transformed back into her snake form after being disguised as Bathilda Bagshot: as she was transforming back into her snake form, the face of Bathilda looked freaky. But that isn’t related to the chamber of secrets nor the basilisk. As a child though, the small similarities between the basilisk and Samara Morgan made Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets that much more chilling and suspenseful, especially when playing the game version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

I remember being about three or four years old, sitting myself down in front of the TV at 5:30am, and putting on the second disc of the Chamber of Secrets movie. There were video shots of the game, like twelve I think, and of course, the last one was the basilisk, this theme going hard as ever. I do now, at twenty one years of age, still lose my mind over this goddamn music, even though I only played the game earlier this year. Goddamn.

Confessionally, that's why I came here. To hear the full version. I would play that last one on loop, sometimes. It just sounded so epic.

When they asked Jeremy to make a boss theme for fighting the Basilisk in a Harry Potter game, he misheard it, and thought they said "An epic swordfight on top of the Notre Dame Cathedral while Paris burns in a Hellish inferno".
