To understand why Ron was affected so much by Harry's name being in the Goblet, tjr books do a solid job of explaining it. Ron's family is so huge that he's been used to being overlooked all his life. He had that drive withing himself to stand out and succeed. It was pure unadulterated jealousy, when he realises his friend who is pretty much the Chosen One, gets yet another perk, to be in the tournament. Remember what Ron saw in the Mirror of Erised? Winning the Quidditch Cup. He wants glory and recognition but it always seems to elude him.

I don't think relating books to movies is a good idea, I rather see the movies as original scripts or edited scripts they changed many things in the movie, like neville doesn't give gillyweed to harry in the books. dumbledore vs voldemort, even neville is non existent in the movies unlike books where he is extremely important. But that's just my opinion. "He had that drive withing himself to stand out and succeed. It was pure unadulterated jealousy, when he realises his friend who is pretty much the Chosen One, gets yet another perk, to be in the tournament. Remember what Ron saw in the Mirror of Erised?" agree with this though

@himanshusharma6713 I think giving missing information that explains things when the reactors have questions is valuable. Movie Ginny was a huge disservice as well. Neville and Ginny are my two I wish they had given more time to. How do you feel about the new series? I'm both nervous and excited. I am excited mostly because we will see more of what was missing. I think I will know how I feel once I see the casting.

@@KatBee00 I'm sooo optimistic about the series, I just don't know what direction they're gonna take it in. Had the official cast been announced yet? I saw something about Cillian Murphy being considered for Voldemort? Not sure of the accuracy of that.

Ron's attitude is explained so perfectly in the book in a conversation Harry had with Hermione. Ron has 5 older brothers that he feels like he has to compete with as far as their Hogwarts Stances go, then his best friend gets all the attention and he feels pushed to the side and He was battling with also his feelings about his family being poor and he expressed to Harry he would love to win the prize money and the glory for his family , he essentially felt betrayed and more insecure than before

Not to mention that his own mother doesn’t know his personal preferences. She makes him corned beef sandwiches to eat for lunch on the Hogwarts Express & he hates corned beef. Plus she always knits him maroon sweaters, scarves & hats & he can’t stand the color maroon. She even puts more time & effort into making Harry’s Christmas sweater than she does her own sons’. Imagine having a mother who doesn’t know your likes & dislikes & works harder to make your friend a nicer gift.

1. not just the quidditch captain, krum was the best seeker in the world at that point. 2. Ron was angry because of the same reason a teenager is angry when their best friend gets selected for a once in a lifetime tournament even though they don't deserve to, ron acts like how a normal teen would, one would definitely be angry at first but then we see ron secretly helping harry. It's not about telling ron, it's about doing it alone -- ron wants glory we see in the first part he sees himself as quidditch captain with trophy in the mirror, ron feels betrayed as harry got the chance but he didn't. This is why I like ron the best in HP he is the most realistic character and being funny is just a bonus. + ron has the highest street smarts out of the 3 as we see later, ron is the perfect package. ron -- general smarts, real world wizard skills since he belongs to a wizard family and has a lot of experience with real world magic, hermione -- bookish knowledge, info harry -- pure magical talent + duelling skills 3. Ron is jealous of seeing hermione with krum, this can be taken both as friendly jealousy or romantic jealousy. Hermione is their friend but went to the dance with harry's competition + we have seen hints between ron and hermione previously esp in part 3 prisoner of azkaban.

When Ron and Hermione are arguing, you ask why Harry don't say anything. If i remember correclty from the book, when Hermione says to Ron "you should have asked me" and Ron says something like "that's not the point, you don't understand", Harry's thoughts are like "Hermione understands a lot better than Ron what's going on but because Ron and I are just friends again, i'm not going to say anything". Basically, Hermione is a girl and girl usually matures emotionnaly faster than boys. Ron doesn't understand yet that what he is feeling is jealousy.

Oh wow! That Fourth movie and book is the coming of age for all of them. I had my tissue box ready for Mr. Cedric's scene, you know which one. Harry did start off at the Dursley's in the book and the walking to the portkey scene was different in the book too. Your wife's reaction is correct about Ron feeling betrayed and it's too much to explain but the books explain it much better, yes, they are teenagers, hormones are flying, and adolescent behavior ensues as you can see. Aw, and there she goes, "oh no, no, no, I need a break, it's too much stress" I know it all too well. The part where Harry is grabbed by the underwater Grindylow creatures as he was trying to pull up Ron and Fleur Delacour's younger sister, a stressful scene indeed, and yes, the way they wear their school uniforms are different too in here too, there will be another change in clothing in future movies! I hope you keep watching, I enjoyed this reaction.

As usual, i end up writing a long comment bc i have alot to say but first, im enjoying your reaction and always looking forward to the next ones, and that comment about draco propping himself in the tree to look cool for harry was soo funny and honestly an accurate characterization for him, reminds me of a parody musical here on youtube that i think is reaaally worth checking after u finish the series bc its HILLARIOUS (it's called: A Very Potter Sequel). But anyways, I absolutely relate to Chris about this movie being his favorite, however i wouldn't say this one's my absolute fav BUT it is the first one that marked itself in my heart and memory especially experiencing it as a teenager, the previous movies were impressive to my child brain bc they introduced MAGIC but this one I saw at 14 i believe and i could relate to it more on a HUMAN level, like, omg they are just like us, even tho theyre magical and we're not yet they have school crushes and feelings and they kinda suck at flirting haha, and then there was THE YULE BALL which is just so dreamy, it made me wanna go to this school, which is insane, if u think about it! Hogwarts is the only school in existence that people DREAM OF BEING IN THERE 😂 all of us usually hated school but it is the only loved school by everyone. Not forgetting that this movie EXPANDED THE MAGICAL WORLD and showed us other schools exist too, and that was mind blowing to me as a teenager. Especially living in a north african country, all the movies we see are western so to me at that age, cool things like magic or superheroes only happen in the US or UK, but the notions of other schools in different parts of the world and seeing indian or asian characters meant that: OH, WE could have a place in the magical world too. Another thing i wanted to talk about is, i remember in one of you guys' last reactions, Chris mentioned how insanely creative this universe is and when he said that, I immidietly thought of this one scene from THIS movie that made me have the exact same amazement and fascination as he did bc it made me realize how crazy JKR is. And that is the fight scene between voldy (voldemort haha) and harry, when the ghosts of the people he killed came out. I remember seeing that scene of dumbledore explaining how that phenomenon was called "priori incantatum" and i was so curious to understand it, so i googled it and OH MY GOD! i was speechless about how vast and deep and layed out this world is, it is a whole universe atp not just a world. JKR really used magic in her stories but she gave it structure, rules, school subjects, completely unique objects like that PENSIVE (the one where u see memories) that Daniela liked + a sport, creatures (land and sea), curses, maladies and even RARE PHENOMENA ... WHO even thinks of that. That "priori incantatum" phenomenon happened bc Harry's wand and voldy's share the same core. Therefore, they cannot harm each other. What happens instead, each wand protects its owner by forming that priori incantatum shield and it essentially RECALLS the last spell the wizard used. Voldy's previous spells were all 'avada kedavra' (the killing curse) hence why the ghosts of the ppl he killed appeared (even the ghost of the muggle house keeper he killed at the beginning of the movie) which ironically worked against voldemort in Harry's favor!. There was also a moment when voldemort told harry that his mother's love protected him, and it's the word he used to describe it that just blew my mind, he called it: old MAGIC. And that was the moment i knew, this is beyond a masterpiece, bc as impressive as the magical element of these stories is, jkr brings us back to reality, the reality that WE HAVE, the gift that we muggles HAVE, love and friendships and she categorized them as magic and just as powerful. Another thing, Im also glad people in the comments already explained why Ron was pissed at Harry bc it's one the things i WISH they explained in the movie it was so worth mentioning. I read the books AFTER i watched the movies and when i read it, it really all made sense. Both he and fred and george all reeaaaaally wished they could compete bc WINNING THAT TOURNAMENT you dont just win the goblet and eternal glory, you win money too and they all needed the money. The twins needed it for an innovative idea they always dreamed of making true and Ron would've helped himself and his family with it since they really struggled financially bc their father doesn't have a job post in the ministry that is very rewarding, he has a fascination with muggles so he works something muggle-related and it doesn't pay well. So, Thats why they struggle, that's why you see the twins trying reaaaally hard to get in the tournament disregarding the dangers of it, they really needed the money and idk if this was said in the comments already but, after harry won he offered Cedric's family the money but they allowed him to take it all and he instead gave it to the twins. And BTW Daniela to ease your stress a little, the students that were underwater weren't going to die if the time ran out that woul be INSAAAAANE 😂 how would they expalin it to the parents haha, in the books even harry thought thats what the challenge meant, that they'd die, but after saving them both they all told him that wasnt goin to happen to them bc dumbledore made a deal with the mer-people (mermaids).

I’m so glad this is the movie that started your love for the HP movies, that’s why it’s my absolute favourite because to me, it’s the start of seeing the characters more in depth. Also, yes that scene where he’s in the tree he was definitely thinking about that the night before and planned it😂 everything about these movies makes you want to be there! I’m still waiting for my Hogwarts letter because you are right! With them introducing more schools, it expanded this magical world! (Chris) Also, THANK YOU for that explanation about the scene with Harry and Voldemort. Like OMG (this is Daniela lol) that is insanely creative! WHO THINKS OF THAT?!! WOW I didn’t know that’s what happened in that scene and now it blew my mind all over again! I agree with you, I loved that it’s called old magic what we have in our real world. Love is so strong in that world too that it protected Harry from getting killed. I think that’s my favourite thing about the whole story! Okay, that’s something I wish they had in the movies too! I feel like that was such a big thing they removed from the movies. I thought it was just him being a teenager and feeling betrayed but it was so much more than that! And of course, Harry would offer to give Cedric’s family the money. That’s absolutely something Harry would do! I wish they had that in the movies, too! I wonder what the twins did with the money. If they used the same way Ron would have. Okay, that’s so good to know😂 I mean they put them through a competition where they could actually die so I thought maybe they could die too😂😂 Dumbledore is so smart to make a deal like that. He’s got it! That scene truly stressed me out though! Thank you so much for your Easter eggs and insights! We truly enjoy reading your comments even if they are long! Don’t worry about that! Yes the food on the table does look good but I do know in the first film and I think in the second film they actually had to reuse the same food over and over again until they were done with the film so after a while it started getting pretty stinky. I believe though by the fourth film all that food is pretty much fake except for what the actors are actually supposed to eat, so what they did with the prop Department as they took real food and then did molding around it to make it more realistic from my understanding I could be misunderstanding it though

its hormones. Ron is acting out because of teenage hormones. He never saw Hermione as a girl, just as HERMIONE. So when other guys, namely Viktor Krum, began showing interest in her, he immediately got jealous. and because, again, Ron never saw Hermione as a teenage girl until this movie whereas shes had a crush on him since the 2nd film, Ron was upset that: he didnt notice Hermione first, she said YES to Victor Krum, and she looked STUNNING at the Yule Ball as he was also incorrectly thinking she (again, him not seeing her as a young lady) wouldn't look as beautiful as she did at the ball, even to other girls attending. Its also hormones over the fact that he's never seen Hermione as a beautiful young lady, always been perceived as Harry's sidekick alongside his elder siblings excelling in their careers & academic efforts, him being outsmarted/outpaced by Ginny, and wanting to be noticed for his own achievements as a standalone Weasley. so yeah...Ron is a dick.

Loving your reactions to these movies! I gotta say, though, this is my least favorite of the series, all the stuff left out from the books being one reason but the other reason I really don't like it is almost the same as your reason for loving it Chris, years ago when living with my aunt I only had one DVD I could watch on my TV and it was this HP movie, I watched it almost every day for months and now I'm just so over it hahaha

Thank you so saying that! It means so much that you have been enjoying our reactions. I mean fair enough! When you watch something so much you either grow to love it or hate it lol. We hope you stick around for more reactions! - Chris

@TheHappyCryersReact very that! And I'll definitely keep watching. I haven't gotten to the end of your HP reactions yet, so if you've already mentioned this, I apologize, but I was wondering if you guys plan on reacting to the 20th anniversary reunion?

Great movie but as a book adaptation it's in my bottom 2. What you see in the movie probably isn't even half of the book. Of course with this franchise that's kind of like choosing the worst of 8 great movies. 🤷‍♀️ The other 2 schools are coed the same as Hogwarts. Don't know why they changed it for the movies.

Exactly!! That’s the beautiful thing about the HP franchise, all of our rankings for the movies will differ but we all know that they’re great 🙌🏼. Very well put! You’re right though that is a very questionable change from the book to movie? I wonder why they did that as well 🤔. We hope you continue to join us on this journey as we always enjoy seeing your comments! - Chris

It’s so strange and unfortunate when it’s your favourite book but least favourite movie, right!? Absolutely can see why Prisoner of Azkaban is your favourite movie!! Such a pivotal film in the franchise 🙌🏼 - Chris

The book is so great and filled with lot's of sub-plots, most of them were not included in this movie. But it would have been hard to include everything for sure, this book is almost twice as big as the previous one.

The Hermoine wanting Ron to ask her to the dance thing always felt like it came out of nowhere. I love the films but the romances are the weakest element.

See, I completely agree with you!! I understand that some young men tease girls they like but Ron treated Hermione horribly up until this point and then unexpectedly wants to ask her to the dance? Came out of nowhere, you’re right! - Chris

I think Ron has spent his whole life up to this point defending his personal space by aggressive thoughtless brothers. Ron's grown up in a pile of people in a tiny house, then moved on to a boarding school where he goes to crowded classes, eats in a crowded dining hall, and sleeps in a crowded dorm. The poor boy has never had a moment to reflect on himself or what he feels; it's no wonder he's so clueless about reading social cues! Ron only asked Hermione to the dance because it was easier than dealing with the terror of asking a girl to the dance and chancing public failure. He does have feelings for his best friend Hermione, but he doesn't even know his own feelings about her. Unfortunately, she does know her own feelings about Ron. I think her attraction to Ron started in the first film, when she had to play nurse to Ron knocked unconscious during the chess match. And at the end of the second film it was clear Ron was attracted to Hermione, but in true Tween fashion, felt it was 'weird' to feel that way. But Ron has been hovering on the edge of conscious feelings for Hermione from the 2nd film onwards; he's just blind to his own feelings. So, no; it did not come out of nowhere. Same with Ginny; for her it was love at first sight of Harry, a full year before she went to Hogwarts. And you see her struggling with it while Harry is a little clueless. Harry just figures it out faster. I just view this as Ron being a late bloomer, whose puberty hit a year after Harry's and Hermione's. It hit late and it hit HARD, and poor Ron was not prepared for it. Ron's not a dick, he's just in over his depth in several respects. @@TheHappyCryers

One of my least favorite movies. Didn't care about the whole ball thing. Disappointed they didn't show the others fighting their dragon or more of the maze. Also, since the girl in the 2nd event was able to concede then why not just have Harry concede each event? That would have completely foiled the whole purpose. The female ghost was of a teenage girl being played by a 30+ year old actress.

But the teenage ghost was also in the second film, and a lot of your complaints are about them both showing and not showing things from the books. I mean your feelings are valid, but I don’t understand why you have them in this case lol.
