Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is a behind-the-scenes walking tour featuring authentic sets, costumes and props from the Harry Potter film series.
Walk in the footsteps of Harry Potter and explore the wonders of the Wizarding World.
Serving as the backdrop to some of the film series’ most iconic scenes such as the Yule Ball and the Battle of Hogwarts, the Great Hall was first built for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2000 and was used as a key set for six more films. The spectacular Great Hall includes the costumes of students from each Hogwarts house plus two large tables which are set for dinner; at the top of the room is the teachers' table where the Hogwarts Professors sat. The Great Hall is home to some of the beautiful hand crafted props created for the Harry Potter film series including Professor Dumbledore’s lectern and the House Points Counter. Though rarely seen on screen, it is rumoured that when the House Points Counter was first built it caused a national shortage of Indian glass beads.
The Forbidden Forest seen in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was a combination of location and studio shooting. This moved entirely to the Studio for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in order to house Aragog’s lair and continued to grow throughout the film series. While shooting for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, scenic artists created backdrops that were up to six hundred feet in length. The Forbidden Forest seen at the Studio Tour is filled with 19 trees each with a diameter of over 12 feet.
The Diagon Alley set constantly changed throughout the film series. Since its construction, walls have shifted, shop fronts have moved and entire buildings have been carefully tweaked, leaning just slightly, to create the street that is seen in the films. Many of the Diagon Alley set pieces were also re-dressed for use in the village of Hogsmeade for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The original design of the street combined the rich details from the Harry Potter books with inspiration from the streets described in the works of Charles Dickens. Diagon Alley is home to not only Gringotts Bank, Flourish and Blotts and Mr Mulpepper’s Apothecary but also the dusty Ollivanders wand shop, where Harry’s wand famously chose him. The shop was home to more than 17,000 individually labelled wand boxes during filming.

I recommend you all to go there in winter! So much more magical and cozier. Snow and Christmas decorations everywhere. Especially in the great hall :). For me, that was the best moment ever!

As a potterhead I love everything Harry Potter and have been to the tour 7 times (I’m going again this year) here are my tips: 1. Get there early 2. Bring your own food to eat before/after your visit 3. Bring lots of money (tell kids to save up and plan what they want to buy so they are not disappointed if they can’t afford something) Also I think the guides should wear Harry Potter related clothes not blue shirts

Thanks for the tip. I saw this on my rec after seeing london tours. How much do we need to bring just incase. What is the range of the merch? I honestly dont plan to buy anything but it may ended up buying 1 at least. So i at least need to eat a heavy meal before going. Are you allowed to bring water at least inside the studio or no?

​@@withexo5225 Hey I just went yesterday. Lots of people were eating packed lunches in the picnic area before going in. Self guided tour takes about 3 hours and you can buy food/drink at the beginning and then again half way through. You can bring in your own food and drink, but you can't be eating/drinking outside of the designated areas. You get chances to buy merch all throughout the tour but it can be really expensive. (Wands were £32)

Had it not for the movies, Harry Potter story won't have been half as famous as of now. Great story by Rowling.... And equal credit to Warner Bros for converting the wonderful story into brilliant movies.

That's such a bad take, the books are amazing, the movies are ok, I was 10 when I started reading the books and they made me love them, there were people lining up to buy the books as you see people lining up to view the new Iphones, if the books wouldn't have been a phenomenon the movies would not have been made.

I beg to differ. The book "Goblet of fire" was released in the year 2000. (Saturday, July 8, 2000) 5 million copies were printed to be released both in the US and the UK. Over the weekend, over 3 million copies were sold in the US alone! There's more interesting information regarding the release of this book, please read it up if you are interested. (It's too awesome to share via a comment, and I'm sure I won't do justice to it.) On the other hand, the movie, "The sorcerer's stone" was released on November 14, 2001. More than a year after the 4th book was published. Considering that millions of copies of the fourth book were sold out (in a single weekend!!) it is pretty indicative of the Pottermania that existed even before the movies were released. I do agree with you on how WB converted the story beautifully onto the silver screen. Especially the first two movies- they were pure magic!!

the thing with that is that the objective is to affirm guest that they are in a production back lot and not IN the wizarding world. And so a more "production-like'" uniform is a detail that helps to prevent THAT level of immersion that CAN be found at the theme parks.

My friend told me that she's bringing her 11 year old son here, in June 2020. That is how I ended up here. :) The siblings are well behaved children. My now 22 year old son, was well socialised too. They are used to being taken places.

Saw this a few years ago. It’s tough to put into words what feelings you get when they pull up that projector screen. Had to say my favorite part was the full rendition of the castle used for flyover shots. So incredibly detailed. Breathtaking. You can’t go on this tour and leave with 0 appreciation for the franchise.

I went last night for the very first time. We went and had Christmas dinner in the great hall! Stunning is all I can say! What a superb place this is. So much to take in. Particularly loved Gringotts, the dragon, The Forbidden Forest, I could go on and on!

I just went yesterday for my birthday! I loved it! I got a wand, a tri wizard cup and a chocolate frog and even got to open the great hall doors! I didn’t know I was going until we were walking through Watford and my dad said these are the tickets for lazer tag and they were Harry Potter World tickets! I’m definitely going again soon!

I have just visited the place with my wife and daughter last Monday morning (16.3.2020) before it closed its doors that evening.It opened half hour earlier at 9.30 am..We were one of the few early visitors..Wow!.. We were amazed by the huge sets snd the details!...and the new additions..The wizarding bank of Gringotts..The Lestrange vault..a gallery of goblins etc..simply...astounding!

I went here on a school trip when I was in year 7 ( I’m now in year 8) it was great , I loved every moment it’s worth the money and the travel time. Me and my 4 best friends got the opportunity to open the great hall doors , I would definitely recommend to go here if your a Harry Potter fan or enjoy the books or films

We arrived very late (just got on to the last tour of the day!) after being stuck behind a serious motorway incident for 4 hours. The staff more than made up for the stress and were so helpful when we called to say we would miss our slot and put our minds at rest. There was one staff member who could see we were massive fans who went inside a lot of the sets to bring props out for us to look at more closely! He practically gave us a mini private tour. Such a great guy & and awesome tour after a bad day.
