You don't really have to protect your ears, its just loud because of the editing in the extra music. But we don't really protect our ears unless we feel the need to like in an ensemble, orchestra, or enclosed space where our sound will be produced larger by the walls or whatever space we're in. I know this was two years ago but hopefully this helps!

i played tenor in the swiss army band (military is mandatory in switzerland). the sax section was beyond shit. on top of it each member spoke a different language. yet as a quartet we were the most liked. from baroque to jazz to pop, we had tradional chinese music in there as well. we got almost all the gigs. the saxs versatility is insane, it blends in with anything.
