Agree. Sirius had some hard time with separating the 2 Potters. Everyone always reminded him that Harry isn’t James and he got super butthurt by it. But it was the truth. Hagrid may have cared about Harry bc of how much he liked Lily but he wasn’t constantly seeing Lily or James instead of Harry.

I think it's just a matter of the books/movies not showing us just how frequently the kids broke their wands. For most all other kids, their families were well off enough that if their wand got broken, they could just buy a new one. The Weasleys on the other hand were rather poor, and since the wand kinda 'worked' still, they put off replacing it for as long as possible. All we can say confidently is that we only know that the people close to Harry (except for Ron) made it all the way through school without breaking their wands. This could be analogous to a high-schooler's laptop. If a drink got spilled on one and made it start doing random things like sometimes typing random letters, sometimes losing important files, sometimes rebooting, etc. the families with enough means would probably just replace the computer right away, meanwhile poorer students might have to put up with the bugs while they saved up for a replacement. If a book were being written, an acquaintance to the main character probably wouldn't earn enough page time for their laptop replacement incident to be mentioned.

The thing I want to know is, why didn't the school buy Ron a new wand, given how vital they are to magical learning. I mean, they buy Harry a blinking broomstick for goodness' sake, and he is clearly rich enough to buy one of his own, if they relaxed the rules about first years having their own. Dumbledore mentions when he visits Riddle that the school has a hardship fund to help students get equipment. I know the Weasleys are proud, but I think the school should have done something.

Actually I don't think so. Think about how personal the connection between wand and witch/wizard (can we have a gender neutral term please?) and wand is. I think it's just the kind of item that people tend to be very protective of. I mean, the only people who are kind of indifferent about losing/breaking their wand are Ron and Neville, and both aren't even using their own wand, whereas Lucius is mortified at Voldemort's request to hand over his wand. Katie, I haven't read Philosopher's Stone in a while, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I actually think that the broomstick was a personal gift from McGonagall (one of the few times she showed some kind of favouritism).

I find that dig at Sirius rather unnecessary. He wanted to be there from the beginning. He wanted to look after baby Harry.If you think about it, Sirius is the reason that Hagrid took Harry to the Dursley's, because he gave Hagrid the motorbike. Sirius is an extremely important character in the series. To say that he wasn't there for Harry is extremely unfair because he was imprisoned in Azkaban. The amount of time they spent together was stolen by the ministry and Bellatrix Lestrange. (I'm sorry.. I just get a bit too passionate about Sirius..)

Seamus for more evidence for this theory in the Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledore sends Hagrid with Madam Maxime (another half-giant) to go and meet with the giants, which is presumably a very dangerous task so he would have to be very well trained to try and face the giants and they were supposed to do it without magic

Also, since madam Maxime is another half-giant which means since he knew that giants were really powerful and apparently there were at least 3 giants and he sent hagrid to do most of the work and madam Maxime was there just to help so he would have to train hagrid really well to be prepared for meeting the giants . May I therefore suggest you invest about a week of your life and read the books? In case you have, and have just forgotten a lot, I advise doing the same to re-read them, or at least book seven. The scene where Harry breaks the Elder Wand is one of the most bs scenes in the movies, firstly because he does it without repairing his own wand first, and secondly because it's inconsistent that you could even break the Elder Wand (it's unbeatable, remember?) Btw, I know this sounded a little condescending. I genuinely didn't mean it that way, I just get very annoyed when people throw movie canon around like it's the only one there is, because most things make a lot more sense in the books.

In the movies, non-verbal magic is kind of ignored. In the books Harry begins to learn about it in the Half-Blood Prince and has quite a difficult time learning it. However Harry is able to duel non-verbally in the movie version of the Order of the Phoenix without a problem.

Seamus I have a theory. If you watch cars 3 you would see a short called Lou. In Lou the main character was a bully. When I was watching one of your videos for inside out I saw a kid in the back right corner who looked exactly like the bully. The only difference was that the kid in inside out had longer hair and looks older. Everything else matched up: the hair color, eye color, nose shape and face shape. Hagrid was my favorite from day one, he's kind, he's funny, he's a the most forgiving, and merciful of almost any character in the movies ( I didn't read the books but, I'm sure he's amazing there too )

I dont think the wand was hidden inside the umbrella at all. I think it was the umbrella. I think Dumbledore transfigured the wand into the umbrella, the way that guy from Fantastic Beasts 2 transfigures his walking stick into a wand. And wouldnt turning it into a pink umbrella be the most Albus Dumbledore thing ever?
