Hey, history student here! The four humours actually originated from a man named Hippocrates, who was a Greek medical scientist in ancient times. His theory of The Four Humours was a medical study that said the body contained 4 liquids, and when out of balance, they would cause sickness. Blood, Phlegm, Black Bile and Yellow Bile were all included in this. This theory was later expanded by Galen, ANOTHER greek surgeon who also studied human anatomy! The point is, it was not storytelling, and many people in Medieval England would actually use this method until (i think) until about halfway through the Renaissance period. This was not greek storytelling, but an actual method of diagnosing the sick!
