My grandfather was an officer in WWll and he never talked about how many men he had killed, he didn't even talk about the men he had managed to save, it was my Nana that told me that story and how he survived being shot... One of his men had been badly injured and was going to die, and he asked my grandad to make sure the little bible he had got to his wife, it was covered in tin and my grandad put it in his left side breast pocket and not long after he was also shot. It hit the bible and skimmed past his heart and took half his side and underarm. He survived but was discharged unfit for service so he joined the Indian Army, there was even a piece in the local news paper about him that my Nana had kept. The thing was he never ever talked about any of it, and he only told my Nana about the men he saved and the man he lost who was a friend, because of the newspaper article... It's such a traumatic thing that none of us can even comprehend unless we were in the forces and had actually seen action first hand!! For Harry to come forward and say the things he has is not only breaking a code that they never discuss the men they've killed but it's also antagonised a response from the Taliban and I can't help but feel it's been a deliberate move on Harry's behalf so that he has to have protection, they will make him their number one target, and he knows that!

My grandpa was in a Japanese prison of war camp, my father in law was a desert rat, fought in many areas throughout the ww2, never once did either talk about killings. We never asked because we were told as children not to bring the subject up. We respected what we were told and never did. Every friday my grsndpa went to meet some of his army friends, that was his outlet.

In Californian law apparently if you're married longer than 10 yrs you can claim spousal support off your ex FOR EVER. So in my humble opinion I think maybe shortly after 10 yrs the worm will turn and Harry will wonder what the hell has happened as his world collapsed around him and he is left with no family in the UK and no family in the USA and a huge alimony bill.

They are what we call Constitutional Monarchs which means a)The Monarch must act in accordance with the advice of the elected government, usually through the Prime Minister and b) The monarch must never exercise power unless so advised by the Prime Minister.

that's how I feel too. He certainly didn't see much of Afghanistan. For most people who were deployed there there are some indelible memories that are much stronger than the hostilities. Like the little girls who were so excited walking to school, as if each day was a gift. Just the sound of their voices and the spring in their step. It was hard to watch the troops pull out because I knew those girls were having their lives destroyed in the process. And if they complained about being covered from head to toe, they are dead by now. War is about much more than killing. I can't understand how he didn't learn that.
