I always appreciate your super detailed overviews on stuff and your honest opinions. A few years ago, I switched to using a safety razor and never looked back. It costs me literally a few pennies per shave. It’s also the best shave for my skin and hair type that I’ve found. I’ll probably pass on using Harry’s but just wanted to leave a comment anyway.

This is really a super informative video, Larry, I am always looking for the next best thing for head shaving. I saw a negative review on the HeadBlade Moto where someone mentioned that the Harry’s 5 was superior to the HeadBlade. I have the HeadBlade, but haven’t used it in a while so I was shopping for blades when I came across that. My search continues lol; keep up the great work and sorry about the truck door 😮

You produced a great video.. like the framing, sound, and you way of explaining your views. I just got the Harry razor because I wanted to try it out. i couldn’t figure out what the plastic was for and you solved that! Regarding the razor did you know it says “Not recommended for head shaving” on the box? Maybe thats why the pivot point is much different than other razors. I will give it a try this morning, for face shaving, and see if what I think. Thanks again for your video!

🤣 I didn’t know Harry’s razors weren’t for head shaving at the time of making the video. However it wasn’t a bad head shave in comparison to many razors. Strange they would exclude head shaving🤷🏾‍♂️. I tried a web search on this "not recommended for head shaving" directive. Results I found were mixed. The product does (now, if not before) come packaged with instructions telling the customer that the razor is not designed for head shaving.

I like the Harry's razor for the back of my neck and shoulder areas. I use it for a quick face shave on occasion as well. In my opinion, safety razors are the way to go!! Blades are super cheap and can be fully recycled! A safety razor can last a lifetime with wonderful shaves! A single edge cuts so much smoother without the irritation multi blades do. Plus, there are numerous options available with blades, soaps, creams, brushes, handles, etc. It will actually become something you look forward to doing instead of being a chore! Cartridge razors have their place, but try double edge shaving, you won't look back! Thanks for the videos!

Also, I would recommend the King C. Gillette safety razor. You can purchase that for only $30 at a Walgreens, CVS, etc. It comes with a 5 pack of their blades! They are an excellent blade!

@@JimG7755 Oh cool. I got the Merkur mk34c. I was torn between that and King C Gillette. The Gillette was appealing because it was cheaper. It ultimately went with the Merkur. Thanks for the insight!

Larry your videos and editing skills are amazing! Before I settled on DE razors I went down the path of trying every cartridge razor out there, I tried Harry’s and didn’t like it either. The blades were rough and not coated so irritation was a big problem. DE shaving changed all of that.

There are some cartridges that are decent, but it doesn’t compare to DE razors, you should definitely try a leaf twig razor, you have to snap a DE blade in half so a box of 100 lasts a long time. I think you would enjoy using it on your face and head. Well it’s Saturday, so happy weekend. Also check out Melly Mel shaves his KZbin channel is great. Glad you made the switch from carts.🌞🕶

I tried out the Leaf (the pivot head model) and regardless of how I put the blades in (top, middle, or bottom) the thing gave me nicks and head cuts. I am curious about the Leaf Twig and Leaf Thorn though and waiting for more reviews on their head shave performance.

Harry's is my new favorite razor. I was using the Schick quattro previously. Every man's face & skin are different. The pivot point of the head is definitely different & I thought I'd hate it but I actually love it. I feel like it keeps the head of the razor flat against the skin and prevents too much pressure to be applied. Anyways great videos you have. Love your comparison

Agreed 100%. Everyone is different and so are their razor preferences. The flex didn’t work for me so it prevented me from appreciating the cartridge blades. But I like Harry’s products and have been using their shaving cream and deodorant since I made this video. I also think Harry’s is fairly priced. Glad you found a razor that you really like at a fair price!! Big thanks for supporting the channel!

I like how you go thoroughly in detail of your reviews. For me though the Gillette Labs Ex is the Cart Razor for me. There’s no razor with cartridge that comes close, the comfortability in the stroke of shave, the ergonomics of the handle, the ease of use with or without cream, the revised cartridge of Fusion5 and Proglide, hey even a magnetic base. Hands down best of until the next one… I’m not a Gillette fan boi btw just it is that good.

Hi i like wet shaving and been bald head and face. I tried the Defender and its the closest shave for me til now. I have skinguard. The razor eraser. Not to close enough. Hey Julio! I really like the Gillette Labs but I don't think it's so much better than other razors that it's worth $6/cartridge. However it's my favorite head shave because of its efficiency. It’s 2024 and I’m honestly surprised at how many BM still use Razors. It’s the quickest way for BM to get Razor-Bumps. Get a “Quality Shaver” fella’s if you are a Brotha. Peace

Hey man great work with your other video sending all those razors to the guys and all,, it was a cool experiment 👍👍 but looking how the Schick quattro was the winner I was thinking you should have included the Gillette Mach 3 on the competition,, if you check the Wirecutter article about razors the mach 3 is the one they recommend,, also lots of guys out there (including myself) think 3 blade razors is the right way to go, anything up from that is just overkill,, the mach 3 was Gillette as it best, all the newest models after that were just gimmick after gimmick. The mach 3 from its launch to this day has become just a classic product man, and they still are selling that thing quite well.. but anyway man just saying, nice work, keep going 👍👋🏼

Yo thanks and much appreciated! 👍🏾👏🏾 Funny you say that. I actually recorded a section talking about why the Mach3 wasn’t in the competition but ended up cutting it out. I agree with you about the Mach3 being a comfortable shave and revolutionary in its time. The reason it wasn’t included is because 3 other Gillette razors were higher in the search results. The Mach3 was actually 4th and higher in the search results than all of the other brands but I just had too many Gillette products. Also it seems Gillette puts most of its marketing push behind other products. I also agree that the Mach3 is good enough but I do think there is a difference between the Mach3 and the 5 blade razors. I personally like the Gillette labs and Fusion5 better, I think they’re a little more efficient. However I can see how some may disagree. Big thanks for sharing your insights!

@@fitnessnbeer9835 I get your point man but it's also worth mentioning that measuring performance in a razor is such a subjective thing to do, there's so much factors to take into account like shave frequency, type of hair/race, skin conditions like acne, rosacea, dermatitis and so on ,, so the bottom line is just to use whatever works the best for you,, in my case I prefer to compare not only performance but performance and price side to side.. if I have 2 razors that gives me both equally good shaves but one of the razors is 2 or 3 times cheaper than the other i am going with the cheapest one for sure.. the thing is paying 2x 3x more for the latest and fanciest razor does not translate in getting 2x 3x times better performance.. and definitely those brands want us to buy theirs latest, fanciest and pricier products 😂 and will push all that marketing with those products even overshadowing their own products that deliver the same or almost the same for way less money 💰💰💰 but idk maybe sometimes it's good for us to have the latest and fanciest things and we end up taking the bait 😂

Harrys say’s that these Razor is not for the Head LoL. I live in Germany and Harrys Razorblades are produced here in Germany. I have a King C Gillette Safety Razor… But i want a faster and sensitive shave, so I’ll try the Harrys Razor.

The things that I’ve learned most from doing razor challenges is that razor preference is mostly subjective with some consistencies. I actually think Harry’s is a good razor and is priced reasonably, if you like it stick with it. My fave is the Gillette Labs but I also don’t think it’s not worth $6 per cartridge. I have not tried Harry's razors, but Gillette Fusion5 and Gillette Mach3 will work well; at least if not many days of growth. I have tried G. Mach3 for some head shaves and it is very smooth.

I don't like that kind of flex, since it also reduces control over cut angle. A classic straight razor works better for me than any cartridge system I've used. (not talking "safety" razors. those can mangle your face with the corners and such.)

​@@fitnessnbeer9835 The classic straight razor is the thing Sweeny Todd was using, if you've ever seen that. (I can't recall if I've ever used one of the curved relatives) They generally fold into the handle to protect the blade from dulling and everything else from the blade. (The handles need replacing far more frequently than the blade. Friend of mine shaves using blades from the 1800s.) I found it easier to learn than a cartridge, personally, but some of that might have been relative ages. I was years into shaving when I tried my first straight razor. The biggest advantage is the ability to keep it really sharp. You strop that thing every few swipes and it remains like new, even cutting my absurdly hard beard. The hardest thing to get used to is holding the thing at the best angle to cut. It's a pretty good trick to sort of swoop over sensitive spots in multiple passes to be sure you get the angles right without risking pulling in and nicking yourself. While the possible severity of getting cut is higher, I have found that the amount of nicks and cuts I get are dramatically lower. The sharpness of the blade matters a great deal to this. The Haary's razor has been my razor of choice, why the blase quality. That said the point of contact where the cartridge lock on the handle is not great. I am thinking something we bit more robust might help that popping of the handle issue. The 5th blase is not great it is hard to get good contact again I am not a fan of the 5th blade on any razor. Shave quality is must take into account, skin and beard type, blade, and lotion. I used to use shave creams, gets, etc and non absolutely non gave me a great finish. Until I discovered by happenstance. I was in the local store looking for charcoal soap and what caught my eye was Maple Syrup vegan organic soap. About a week later I ran out of shave cream and it hit me. Maple syrup is anti-microbial and the soap lathers extremely well...heck let's give it a try as a shave alternative. The results for me were outstanding I have never had a face and full head shave as close to this with any shaving product, ever. Bad news the company that makes the Maple Soap line no longer produces that or their charcoal line. They had told me these were 2 lines that did not sell as well as their others. I am buying as many of these bars as I can get my hands on. Though there are other manufacturers in the US who make Maple Vegan Soap.

Yes it totally does say not recommended for head shaving. I find it strange because as a head shaver I think Harry’s preforms just as capably as most razors. Also any razor I use generally has to perform double duty. Big thanks for checking out the video and sharing your thoughts!

Great razor and blades. BUT. They keep sending me balm after shave,and calling them to stop didnt help. I now have 12 bottles under the sink. Yesterday was the last straw and I canceled my service.The person on the phone didnt seem to care. Eric N

@@fitnessnbeer9835 they had the 5 blade Version called SHARK-that one was 👌🏾real good!They don't have any more thow-the new one is called Comfort 5.This one is a major down grade ,compared to the Shark-the contour trimmer on the back is Traaaassshhhh-the 5blades are OK! So if you can get your hands on the old Shark Version, then get'em!!!

I switched from fusion blades to Harrys and regreted it straight away....what a huge mistake. I know 2 other guys that have had the exact same experience. They absolutely cut my face up. Threw the razor and blades away after the first shave. Rubbish

I hear ya and respect the opinion. I shave both my head and enough of my face that I cover a lot of surface area. And I value the feel and results of my shave. But I understand that it’s not the same as a full face shave. Big thanks for checking out the video and sharing your thoughts!

Just let everyone & everything be like it’s always been, there’s no need to affirm or cater to anyone specifically or cram anyone’s sexuality down everyone’s throat. No 1 actually cares until it’s force fed to them & starts directly affecting them, their families & personal beliefs/culture etc. All I care about is being left alone to live my life & properly raise my kids how I see fit without anyone’s interference. If we don’t get ahold of this craziness, our future generations are doomed. Anytime brother, great explanation & video. Appreciate the feedback, most people don’t bother responding to anyone. That’s how you gain subscribers.

I think everyone is worthy of respect regardless of race, gender, sexuality, political affiliation etc. But I also believe there’s appropriate spaces for social commentary and it does not have to be force fed in beer and razor commercials.🤣
