many great songwriters use repetition to emphasize a point, or even because they want to draw more attention to the instrumentation. mitski and lorde are both hailed as fantastic songwriters, and both utilize repetition quite a bit. i’m not saying harry is a great songwriter, i just don’t see why that in particular is treated as an issue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

K Q well that’s because they are amazing writers, and actually use repetition for artistic reasons. harry styles’ repetition sounds a little lazy but i LOVE this album sonically. he has a lot of time to improve, but let’s not act like him talking about shooting heroin 18x in a row is good writing. the best written song in this album is probably ‘she,’ god i love that song

Harry is an odd bird in a pop gang but his background and huge fanbase gives him freedom to do what he really likes. He doesn't flow with the mainstream he creates his own current a little bit. And he's really young and excited about music in general, he's experimenting with the sound (and with the sounds per se xD). Some things on the album are weird, controversial some are not pop at all. But that's how you become a legend, you do what you want to do, not what you're told to do. I'm sure we're witnessing a big name in the making. I liked your reaction and I liked its honesty and the fact that it didn't speak to you in some songs is good, because it shouldn't, I guess. Strangely, I just heard about him at the end of September but got stuck instantly. Loved all his stuff right away, which usually doesn't happen :) he seems so close to me musically, it's like we grew up listening the same music and now he's reliving it and giving it a modern spin. I'm up for it for sure :)

i would just like to address a couple of comments i've been seeing (no hate everyone has their own opinions) 1: i feel like a lot of new people to harry don't like his song writing/ don't understand what he's trying to get across but that's kind of because you've kinda have to look into story's about harry. THIS IS CRUCIAL FOR CHERRY. cherry is such a vulnerable song and you can tell harry poured his heart into that masterpiece. i remember when i first listened to it i felt so guilty for it because it felt like i just read his diary or like invaded his privacy. 2: GUYS DONT COMPARE THE SONGS. every song has its own meaning to it and they all are very different from each other so you can't really compare them. 3: don't expect to know everything when you first listen to a song ESPECIALLY IF YOURE NEW TO HARRY. i've been listening to harry for a long time so it was kinda easier for me to pick up on some things but even i learned a couple of things the more i listened. 4: i think it's pretty clear that watermelon sugar is about oral sex even though it was never directly stated as such. a lot of people think it's about heroine but we all know harry does shrooms and not heroine. also i think we all know about harry's love for oral sex given that i've seen many videos of flicking his tongue. thank you for coming to my ted talk 😌
