Until recently I too slept on Harry’s music. I was never into One Direction so, same as you, I brushed him off as eh maybe he’s making the same boy band pop sound they did. Boy was I wrong! His sound is FAR from his boy band days and I’m all about it. I’m a huge fan of David Bowie, Queen, Fleetwood Mac and I absolutely love that he’s pulling from and integrating those sounds with his music but yet making it his own. I’ve been diving into your Harry Styles videos because I really enjoy the way you listen to, and appreciate music. I can tell you actually FEEL the music and I very much resonate with that so I’m glad I found your channel. Looking forward to experiencing more of your content. :)

You should react to Harry Styles Medicine (St. Paul) If you want to get into some of One Direction you might like their songs Perfect and Where Do Broken Hearts Go. Their Album Made in the A.M. has a lot of similar vibes and is not very pop at all.

I would recommend you listen to some songs from One Direction's Made In the AM album. Their first record was very "boy-band", but as they gained more control over the music they recorded it got much less so. By the 4th record they were writing almost all their own songs, and they song quality improved DRASTICALLY. Excited you’re going to give the album a listen :) after you do, if you have Apple Music he has a special called behind the album: the performances where he performs all the songs in abbey road studios. It’s really cool to listen to the album and then watch the special to see what he can do. He’s really great at changing notes up live and always sounds fantastic! I think he’s also a really emotive singer and can really make people listening connect emotionally, a couple of those performance on the special break my heart, you just feel it

g m yes! I feel like he would appreciate Harry SO much if he watched his Apple Music documentaries. Both of them. Behind The Music shows you how painstakingly involved he was in the process of recording his album (which most pop stars are not) and The Performances is straight up the entire album performed live with the same band in Abbey Road. Also Harry is so freaking charming in both!

I think the thing I like Steven is that you react to and seem to enjoy both styles and swifts musics. And a decent chunk of the influences of some of there songs is about each other. I am with you I never even spent much time listening to 1D or Taylor, but having 3 daughters I was influenced to watch it a bit, I caught a concert with my oldest daughter and I was blown away by Harry. I went and got his album put my headphones on and was really brought back to a more Bowie Esq type genre of music. Intro track of meet me in the hallway is a really could starter song, still think Ever Since New York is my favorite since its just clean, a bit repetitive but if you hit the same note and keep the same consistency throughout the song it just comes off solid to me. I am sure you will enjoy the album.

Yes listen to the whole Album! I didn't regret it at all, it is one of my favourite Albums ever I would say and I usually don't like slow paced songs. But there is such a huge variety on that Album - very eclectic, many influences yet it still somehow works together. It is really a journey you take while listening to the whole thing. It has me bawling my eyes out and then wanting to run around in pure joy, full of energy and by the end you are just content and it is a nice grounding ending. At least that what it felt like to me. You should check out some of the later One Direction Songs. I was the same as you - listened to Harry, became a fan and went back to 1D becaus I had thought the same thing as you. But Drag me Down for example is pretty rock-influenced and If I could fly is a great ballad. There are many different influences on Four and Made in the AM and it is really pretty enjoyable. And especially live as well :) Of course there are some more generic pop songs in there still but you can tell their personalities on the later Albums as they were more involved with the writing and stuff. I found that pretty interesting :) Can't wait for Fine Line to see what he did with that. Lights up was very different but very promising and interesting to me.

You should really try some one direction albums!! Midnight memories, Four and Made in the A.M. always surprised people when they heard it! Midnight memories was still mostly pop but it was a stepping stone in a diff direction for four and made in the am!
