I’ve got my degree in Music History geeked out to stuff like this studying what makes an artists last for decades and centuries compared to the ones that fizzle out and are eventually forgotten with time. Every time I see him on stage I feel nervous. He is so awkward, clumsy, shy & confused.. but always, always speaks from his heart. Compared to other celebrities his speeches are slow, complicated & a bit vague - he always looks like he'd rather be anywhere else. But when you see him with his fans he is a totally different person. See here how he acts with this old lady? THAT'S Harry for you. I don't know any other artist who speaks so directly to their fans. He acknowledges each and every one of them in every way he can. The fans are his true super power; you can see it in his concerts, where he is massively confident & talkative - so different from the "formal" Harry we see here & in the press conferences. He does not fit well to Hollywood, the showbiz & its shallow people. But his art & genuine personality just wins hearts everywhere he goes. Congratulations, love. You deserve the world, you truly do.

I don't think that Beyoncé's fans have realized that they singlehandedly overshadowed her history making achievement by complaining about Harry. How Harry "didn't deserve it" made much more noise that her record break, because instead of talking about all her wins, they're obsessed over her one loss.
@niloticnya Жыл бұрын
it’s not about one loss. it’s about the fact that she’s had 20+ year career and artists everywhere see her as the top standard, but has never won album of the year. they made categories for black artists and gave her all the awards, while excluding her from the most prestigious award. the academy has issues, so atp i don’t think any award can define Beyoncé’s legacy

@@niloticnya considering that voting for the grammes is done by professionals in the music business (artists, song writers, producers, engineers, etc) maybe she simply hasn't won album of the year because she didn't have the best album any year she was up for it? She isn't being excluded because she isn't winning an award... she is just being beaten by other artists. She isn't entitled to an award just because of her name or that people worship her. That has never guaranteed anyone an award, some of the best actors for example never won an Oscar. They weren't being snubbed they were just beaten in the category by other actors. It is what it is.

I know people will scrutinise Harry's words "this doesn't happen to people like me very often" but I think it means something very personal for him. Being from a middle class working family in a small town, being in a popular boyband and finally being recognised as a true musician at the Grammys, I think it means a lot to him. Everyone goes through their own personal journey (and it might also means something that he's keeping private about himself) Like he said, "there is no such thing as best", so Harry's House may not be the best album to you cos it's subjective. So let's just appreciate all the albums that are nominated tonight. Congrats Harry and to everyone ❤️

look it's just a dumb word choice. saying that when a black women hasn't won since 1999 against a revolutionary album celebrating black queer culture is just gonna look terrible and there is no way around it. it literally happens to people like him all the time lol
@danid2702 Жыл бұрын
Yeeeah, I had to pause for a moment. While I understand where he is coming from, I don't think it was the right thing to say. Most of the artists in that category came from either improvised backgrounds or middle class like him. I just think he phrased it wrong, I think he meant "I never expected this to happen to me", but I think it shows a little bit of his perhaps unconscious privilege that that is what came out. No judgment, but he does need to revise the way he thinks/phrases stuff (maybe some speech/interview coaching) because I've seen a couple of clips where you can see he is at a loss for words, and things that don't make much sense like this come out of his mouth.
