Hello John, my name is Frederic,I am a French artist and I must say that your video on Medusa really inspired me because after having watched it ,I decided to make a wall plaque of the head of Medusa ,and ,once this sculpture was completed,I made a life-size bust of the Gorgon which you can see on my channel in two short videos ,I am also a big fan of Ray and dedicated these two sculptures to him ,I am what we call a «film buff» and Ray was an extremely talented person who made us dream with the magic of his creatures .Thank you John for your job and the video .

Medusa terrified me as a child, had to sleep with a radio and lights on for months but wouldn't want it any other way!. Still at 43 that scene of her crawling out to make her first appearance gives me the heebs, the sound, set, lighting is all just perfect. I remember seeing the actual Medusa puppet at MOMI in London in the early 90's, I wonder if it was the actual screen used Medusa or just a copy from the same mould etc. Great video

Firstly great to see you back unboxing this icon piece from Ray I think I speak for everyone that this is the one we have been waiting for, the jewel in the crown without a doubt. I loved and still love every second Medusa is on screen, I could watch that scene day in, day out. For me its the rattling of the tail and the shadows on the columns, we know she's coming and what she looks like but man, seeing her for the first time was a truly spine tingling moment, it still gets me seeing those shadows of her, a great touch by Mr Harryhausen. So much nostalgia! Where to start? I first saw Clash Of The Titans at the cinema on a family holiday in Torquay in 1981. The cinema was playing Raiders Of The Lost Ark at the same time, so I had an impossible choice. I got to pick and I chose Titans ( I saw Raiders the following week in Leicester!). This wasn't my first time seeing Harryhausen on the big screen big as I had seen Sinbad & The Eye Of The Tiger a few years earlier and was in love with his stop-motion monsters. I still adhore his movies to this day and although Jason & The Argonauts is arguably the best of his films, Clash Of The Titans feels an indelible part of my childhood - I even had the Look-In comic special which you showed in your video. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I was determined to get these top-end figures out and the 11-year-old me would have fainted at this video. Raiders or Clash is a real Sophie's Choice. You made the right call. I still have one of the old Geometric kits of Medusa in my collection. I have never had the confidence to build and paint it, though I have assembled it once or twice so I could see what it would look like and so I could photograph it for future reference. This latest version from Star Ace Toys certainly looks impressive. The extras with the deluxe version are in keeping with the Geometric Kit as there was a separate base for that which also featured the poor soldier turned to stone.

I have been obsessed with Harry's medusa since I was 10. I even have a tattoo of her on my back! Gosh this figure is just perfect isn't it? Gorgeous. Wow. You lucky thing John! The Medusa figure is just brilliant and the detail on it is just as I remembered seeing it when the original figure was on display at MOMI in London many years ago. Medusa is also my favourite Harryhausen creation in what I believe is one of his best films after Jason and The Argonauts.

Still till today the most terrifying Monster on screen, i remember when she came from around that column on her stomach, that scared the crap out of me, Ray was a master of his craft, just the time he had to put into moving every snake in her head , her lips etc.. was pure legendary, i hope we get a Calibos and a Perseus holding up Medusa's head from that iconic scene. i collect everything that has Ray Harryhausen's name on it, i even had a Thetis falling statue head and the three blind witches modeled for me by a friend, i'm the only one who owns them.

Ray's work here on Medusa is outstanding. The lighting and sound effects give the whole thing such a darkly sinister feeling of dread, and her entrance is as creepy as any of the best horror scenes. Ray's animation is unsurpassed. It's his genius that gives Medusa, as in all his characters, life beyond the screen and forever into our memories.

Amazing! The snake scales and head sculpt are so damn good on this! And you are right, the Deluxe companion base is probably the best one from Star Ace yet as it is the perfect compliment to the figure and tells a story on its own. This line continues to impress. Cannot wait to see how the Kraken and Cyclops busts turn out. I will be getting those as well!

Oh man. It was such a dramatic and thrilling feeling when I saw the movie for the first time as a kid. I loved that they did not have so much music when they came to Medusa. It was more like an ambience-feeling. The diorama is very very cool!

hi john happy christmas to you. i have just found out john that star ace have now done a soft vinyl kit of medusa which isnt available yet i know but from the model box contents picture there doesent appear to be any arrows with it for her satchel on her back or the one she holds with the bow but it does come with the diorama base of the brassier with flame and the roman soldier on the floor can you let me know if it does come with the arrows if possible

Amazing figure of one of Ray's greatest creations. Medusa was terrifying. I hope we get a figure of Dioskilos eventually, as well. I really liked that scene. It was a great set-up for the confrontation with Medusa.

Excellent video! I need to get a copy of your book! I had not seen some of these pictures. Are you sure there was only one Medusa model though? The model looks intact, but there are pictures of it with the head detached. Did Ray put it back on? I also noticed that she looks a little different in some shots, but that could be the lighting.

One of my all time characters of Rays’. The sound of her rattle combined with the ominous score made the hair on my neck stand up! A brilliant review as always, John- and how fascinating to see Joan Crawfords’ piercing gaze in Medusas’ eyes. Well done!

The Medusa from Clash of the Titans was one of my first scary movie moments, that and the giant scorpions. A truly iconic character. Very nice figure they've made, would love to win it.
