I've heard that Japanese people are quite introverted and it can be a challenge to get them out of their shell, but you've demonstrated how approaching them in a certain manner can lead to some great interactions. I visited Japan for 2 weeks in 1981. No smartphones, Internet or email. It was great not being irradiated by 900 MHz frequencies & 5 GB Wi-Fi, 24/7. What you don't see will kill you.
