I’ve never stopped to think about what specific creatures would be discussed in The Monster Book of Monsters, but it’s still an interesting topic. Prior to this video, I was only familiar with the Manticore, Hippogriff, and the Sphinx.

Interesting theory. I know a wand can change looks over time as the wizard and wand bond but never thought about intentionally changing it. I know the wand Bellatrix had as well as Voldemort had changed over time as they became more and more evil.

I play a lot of D & D so I'm very familiar with Manticores and even ran into a Sphinx a couple times in a campaign. Other than Hiffogriffs the rest were new to me.

Since a monster is a type of creature in the magical world, I wonder what qualifies a beast as a monster, besides being very dangerous. Did Lima and Scamander argue? If both books mention the same creature would their info be contradictory? So many questions! Haha

I’ve wondered if there are a few hides that repel most charms etc. then why isn’t there a market for skinning then and making spell-proof vests? Even just for law enforcement, or if it’s frowned upon - dark wizards?

This is a question that has been bugging me aswell. And in the story it was even stated that most of wizards gloves, hats, jackets, boots and other products are made from dragon skin. However I was confused, if that the case then how come they don’t block spells. As dragons are stated to have magic resistance hide. The only conclusion I could reach was either the process used to make said clothing damages the hides innate magical resistance. Or the magical resistance of a lot of magical creatures is only effective when said creature is alive. Thus using it to make clothing, doesn’t make it much different to muggle hide. Besides being more durable.

How and where did you find out what monsters would be in the monster book of monsters? I’ve never heard of most of these monsters. I would have thought creatures like the Basilisk, red cap, Kappas and acromantula would be in this book. Even the hide behind I would think would be likely to be in it since they are quiet the scary monster types that J.K. Rowling talks about

That was one of the dumbest story ideas in literature these last few decades. A book to study about creatures that eats other books, readers, and anything else. Only Hagrid would think it cute or useful. A reason he had no business as a teacher. And if Dumbledore truly thought he did, then he too had no business in a school. As for the creatures listed, most were beyond a 3rd year class of kids to safely handle. These are kids that think it's cool to get hit by lightening while playing a sport though the one struck is less than pleased as they near die. Bad mix that. Bad teaching.
