Wow! I used to get blisters all the time, literally every time I went out running I got blisters on the arches of my feet. But Ive followed your advice and tried two pairs of socks, and have been putting rocktape on the arches, and I haven't had anything, it means I can actually increase the frequency of my runs now.

I recommend measuring your heel to toe size objectively and then going for 0,5-1 cm more in space. This is much more precise then just saying "at least a thumb width of space".

I've ran in Adidas Boston, Nike Pegasus and never had a blister after nearly 1000km over 3 years. I just ran 7km in a new pair of Hoka Clifton 5 and now both feet have blisters on the arches. I will be following your tips. Thanks

I get blisters with every new pair of shoes, including the Nike Pegasus, but if I run in them long enough my feet develop calluses on the blister prone regions (which can vary with different shoes), which makes them more resistant over time.

Great tips! I recently had a tough experience with blisters: With other vegan friends we were on a 4 day hiking trip and I multiple blisters and it got really painful to walk, the things that completely changed my experience were using tape, and switching to sandals where there was a lot more room for the toes and heel to move without much friction

Using tape was my first solution when i started going over 5K, but can get expensive if you have to do it every time (now I save for runs that are a bit out of the ordinary). Better fitting shoes, tying them properly and some good sock worked the best. One question I do have is: what is the best thing to do once you get them mid-run? Recently I felt one starting, on the top of my baby toe, halfway through a 22 km route and because of the route I picked I was committed to finishing it (and it grew quite big by the end). At the time I didn't know what to do beside re-tying my shoe so I just kept going. Is stopping the only real choice to avoid making it worse?

Hi Harry, I'm 18 years old and I'm looking to run a half marathon under 90 minutes, I recently ran 15k in 1 hour and 3 minutes, do you think it's possible for me to run for my target if I keep up my present training plan, thanks in advance and keep making the great videos man!
@HarryRunsUK7 жыл бұрын
If you're running 63 minutes for 15km it would be very close if you have trained well and on form. So for sure possible in the right race with some strong athletes around you to help pull you along. Just be sure to get those long runs and sustained tempo efforts in and you'll get there! Keep up the great work and good luck with your target.

A little off topic but I am trying to find a good long distance training shoe but I have problems finding the right pair because my feet are flat and wide. I am Sydney based and am looking for a walk in shop to find a good pair. I am interested in Altras but would like to try a pair on before purchasing. I run around 50km a week and looking to increase it further in the future. Thanks for any help in advance.

Vaseline is natural and organic. Where do you think hydrocarbons come from?!?! The very definition of "organic" in chemistry means it is made of carbon (i.e. hydrocarbons).

@HarryRunsUK7 жыл бұрын
Perhaps consider going up a half size in shoes. But if you are running technical, rocky, or very steep terrain and a lot of time on feet it can be almost inevitable. Bashing/kicking rocks has always been the biggest culprit for me.

Has anyone had their toes to go numb while running? My big toe goes numb if I run fast enough, long enough and wonder if it's normal..Perhaps it's my shoe?
@GeoffreyChisnall7 жыл бұрын
How much space is in the front of the toe? Are your toes cramped? My big toe / two smaller toes go numb sometimes and I know it's because the toe box of my road shoes is small.
@abdullahmohamed3657 жыл бұрын

@gudboyngdisyerto7 жыл бұрын
how about a pair of thick socks instead of 2 pairs of thin/regular thickness socks? what is the difference?
@stnhld28416 жыл бұрын
gudboyngdisyerto maybe not practical for running but the old trail walking trick was 2 pairs, one thick, one thin. Place the thin pair on first, the friction is then created between the two pairs of socks, not between the feet and the socks. With just a thick pair, you are not getting the extra layer to create a moving barrier.
