The piano is an acoustic, stringed musical instrument invented around the year 1700 (the exact year is uncertain), in which the strings are struck by hammers. It is played using a keyboard,[1] which is a row of keys (small levers) that the performer presses down or strikes with the fingers and thumbs of both hands to cause the hammers to strike the strings. The word piano is a shortened form of pianoforte, the Italian term for the early 1700s versions of the instrument, which in turn derives from gravicembalo col piano e forte[2] and fortepiano. The Italian musical terms piano and forte indicate "soft" and "loud" respectively,[3] in this context referring to the variations in volume (i.e., loudness) produced in response to a pianist's touch or pressure on the keys: the greater the velocity of a key press, the greater the force of the hammer hitting the strings, and the louder the sound of the note produced and the stronger the attack. The first fortepianos in the 1700s had a quieter sound and smaller dynamic range.
An acoustic piano usually has a protective wooden case surrounding the soundboard and metal strings, which are strung under great tension on a heavy metal frame. Pressing one or more keys on the piano's keyboard causes a padded hammer (typically padded with firm felt) to strike the strings. The hammer rebounds from the strings, and the strings continue to vibrate at their resonant frequency.[4] These vibrations are transmitted through a bridge to a soundboard that amplifies by more efficiently coupling the acoustic energy to the air. When the key is released, a damper stops the strings' vibration, ending the sound. Notes can be sustained, even when the keys are released by the fingers and thumbs, by the use of pedals at the base of the instrument. The sustain pedal enables pianists to play musical passages that would otherwise be impossible, such as sounding a 10-note chord in the lower register and then, while this chord is being continued with the sustain pedal, shifting both hands to the treble range to play a melody and arpeggios over the top of this sustained chord. Unlike the pipe organ and harpsichord, two major keyboard instruments widely used before the piano, the piano allows gradations of volume and tone according to how forcefully a performer presses or strikes the keys.
Most modern pianos have a row of 88 black and white keys, 52 white keys for the notes of the C major scale (C, D, E, F, G, A and B) and 36 shorter black keys, which are raised above the white keys, and set further back on the keyboard. This means that the piano can play 88 different pitches (or "notes"), going from the deepest bass range to the highest treble. The black keys are for the "accidentals" (F♯/G♭, G♯/A♭, A♯/B♭, C♯/D♭, and D♯/E♭), which are needed to play in all twelve keys. More rarely, some pianos have additional keys (which require additional strings). Most notes have three strings, except for the bass that graduates from one to two. The strings are sounded when keys are pressed or struck, and silenced by dampers when the hands are lifted from the keyboard. Although an acoustic piano has strings, it is usually classified as a percussion instrument rather than as a stringed instrument, because the strings are struck rather than plucked (as with a harpsichord or spinet); in the Hornbostel-Sachs system of instrument classification, pianos are considered chordophones. There are two main types of piano: the grand piano and the upright piano. The grand piano is used for Classical solos, chamber music and art song and it is often used in jazz and pop concerts. The upright piano, which is more compact, is the most popular type, as they are a better size for use in private homes for domestic music-making and practice.

I listen to this everyday at night ... I'm honestly depressed, my life's fucked up. I'm emotionally cold now. No one likes me , not even my family. I'm tired of being here. I just wanna end it all. Sometimes I think I actually deserve some happiness, but I'm always where the sun doesn't shine. I fake a smile everyday of my life. I hate myself like everybody does. Sometimes I think it's not worth it for me to cry or to care about other people's opinions but it just hurts me. I'm used to it but it hurts. I'm not crazy, I'm just lonely. When I'm dreaming with a broken heart waking up is the hardest part. I remember i used to have dreams but society ruined them. I always just pretend to feel no pain but it's useless, I need help but can't show it. I just feel dead inside. I wanna smile but I don't want it to be fake , I want real one .. reminds me of how I don't have the cliché grandma or grandpa or brothers and sisters or dad, It's just me and my mom. I move all the time, I never make friends that stay. What's gonna happen when she's gone? she's the only thing in life that ever made it fun and worth it. I hope she doesn't die any time soon. I still have so much to thank her for and do for her, I just need to get old enough to help her out and make money. One day we won't live being worried about having enough money to eat or for her to get to work. I'll fix this, I just need time.

Is this really what growing up means? Less and less people around you?, Im trying to get used to being alone, for the most part its quite nice and peaceful but thinking back when my cousins and my brother are playing video games on our room at christmas eve, and now id be alone, they'd be with their own families and all i could do is remember the times where im still happy. But im glad those moments happened and i experience it before this times came when people arent around anymore.

Now that I am 70 years old. Music like this makes me long for the times when my friends were alive. I'm still here, but alone and without them. I'm in good health but my mind feels a deep sadness that cannot be explained. My college friends of long ago 1972 are all gone. My family is much too busy with their own lives. I am glad for all of the photos I have taken, they keep me company. I don't think I could make it if I didn't have distractions like Netfix, and other streaming websites.

2 years ago I listened to this beautiful piece when my father passed away. I listened to this as I cried myself to sleep for almost a month. It's hard to explain the grieve I felt at that time. When I listen to these kind of songs. I can't just stop crying because I remember my past days. I got bullied a lot, and physical abuse by my classmates😭😭. Since 8 years old I started to feel depression😭😭😭 but now I'm 13 years old I will stand by myself and don't let everyone take or drag me down anymore. I already suffered past years. And I wouldn't stop crying everynight after I got home from school. But now I already transfered city. I'm already grown up now.

Don't worry that was all in the past. I'm 16 now but to tell you the truth, I was also bullied. No one wanted to be around me, all because I wasn't cool or good looking. I was sad as a kid and never really trusted anyone. I made a friend, he didn't cared that I wasn't "cool" as the other kids, he just was happy to be around. I played with him for what seemed for eternity and grew up with him. As I grew up with him, he made other friends. So I thought, why shouldn't I? During Jr. high I for the first time tried to make friends but I failed badly. No one understood my humor like my best friend, no one thought I was cool. I was depressed but at least I had my friend. Then one day, I tried to talk to him but he ignored me. I got mad and asked him why was he ignoring me? He told me "I don't want to be friends." I was shocked, I wanted to cry, I felt betrayed, stabbed in the heart. He basically left me for his new friends. From that day on I didn't trust anyone. I wanted to commit suicide, but I couldn't, I was afraid. When I entered high school. Everything changed; well not everything. I now made friends, who only care for who I am. People still see me as this unfriendly/creepy, but I'm not. So hear me out when I say this: DO NOT LET THEM WIN. Trust me, you'll meet someone who will care about you and adore you. People judge because they just don't know anything or feel superior than you, but they're not. So please stay strong. God bless you.

It's those emotions that make you feel so alive." "Why are you talking to me?" He asked collapsing to his hands and knees. "I am here to tell you that there comes a time where we feel like the only option in life is to just give up and live life inside an empty shell. Yes, crying yourself to sleep every night is not a good thing. But it demonstrates you are in a tough situation that also allows you to convey your feelings in a non threatening way." Silence "We can't live a life without sadness, grief, and mourn. We tend to let these things overwhelm us over power us to the point we lose control of our actions and state of mind. You cannot experience happiness without knowing what sadness feels like." "How do I find happiness when I live through the cycles of depression?" He looked up to the sky to discover a beam of shining light in a figure gradually moving towards him. As it moved closer and closer, his eyes grew wider and wider. He soon began to realize it really was himself in another form. He reached his hand up to the sky to grab onto his hand. "Please save me. I beg you to please end this suffering." As he grabbed onto the figure's arm. "I'm desperate to get out of this world alive. Please....please... please...save me...save me from this world of hurt..." Rain began to fall harder and harder by the minute. "Look around you. What do you see?" The figure asked. "Nothing...darkness...rain..." He uttered. "What I see is I can see through your tears even when it's raining. I see you have a whole new life ahead of you and you will find a new reason to live. Find those who can look passed your tears, your flaws, your insecurities and you'll find true happiness. Surround yourself with those who believe in you, have faith in you, and have high hopes for you to follow your dreams. Those who do will never leave your side. I guarantee that across my heart and soul." He rubbed the tears out of his eyes, got on one knee, and stood up. "See look at you, you stood up for the very first time. Life isn't always about staying on your feet. Life is about learning how to stand up when you fall and can't get back up no matter what's going on no matter how you feel." He looked at the figure's face to realize it was his own. "You really are me huh?" "I am who you want to be. I am who you dream to be. I am who you are born to be. One day you'll soon begin to realize that life doesn't always give you lemons but instead life gives you oranges. It is your job to find the best of the worst case scenario. You will make it and you will make lemonade out of oranges if you put your heart and soul into it. I promise." He watched tears fall from the figure's eyes and held onto him. "You're right. I will live a better life and I will live the life I've always dreamed of. Thank you..." The figure began to slowly fade away floating back towards the night sky as the rain stopped pouring.

I know how you feel. My wife passed away 1 year ago this past October. She was sick for about 4 years. Near the end she was so sick that Hospice came in the last month. This song reminds me of when I was in my early teens, the best time in my life when everything was good and the time I felt love for the first time.
