The V8 with a hybrid assist would suit this car really well; the extra weight is effectively irrelevant since you're already starting at 5000lb anyway. That's probably for the next generation though; a hybrid V8 could quite easily outperform the W12 which is why you won't see them on sale next to each other.

Nice review, nice car but tbh i can't see the point of a car like this. It's not sporty in the sense of dynamics, yet it's very fast. But the only place where you can use it is Germany and only when it's not busy on the autobahn (which is hardly ever these days). What remains is stupendous luxury and the exclusivity. But i wouldn't buy one even if i could. Why advertise that you are filthy rich? There are other cars that are very luxurious but will allow you to travel under the radar. A couple of hours before watching this video I watched a Jay Leno video all about British cars. In that video Jay drives an Aston Martin that is a rather striking orange colour. I think burnt orange would describe it or deep orange. If the DCT's revised for the new W12, the W12 is the much better option. Not much difference between front and rear weight balance (55:45 regardless, at least according to Bentley's own words) and to have 12 cylinders is always better than an 8 despite it being an inferior W configuration.

@zix_zix_zix2 жыл бұрын
Depends on what type of driving you're doing I guess; I would get the Ferrari GTC 4 because it offers a more dynamic driving experience. However, the Bentley GT definitely beats everything when it comes to "waftability" and comfort. Just a great GT car. I would personally choose the V8 version because of the price jump to the W12, which is crazy!!.. I think your current car (SL65 AMG) offers a driving experience similar to the Bentley's, so choosing the Ferrari makes more sense, just to go for something different.

The Bentley GT with the V8 differently handles better, but that W12. The reason for the excellent ride is the anti-roll bars decouple when you're driving straight ahead when you enter a turn, the bars couple, and the 48-volt system kicks in and keeps the car flat in a turn.
@JonathanSmith872 жыл бұрын

Thank you Harry for making this. My favourite car by a fair margin, especially considering the sour legacy of Phaeton-based ones it descends from. I'm rather obsessed with it actually. - Love the colour, just a shame about the blackline. I think it's rather tacky. Without blackline you can also pay to have all the front grilles chromed, as far as I know they're still plastic, but they have a metal appearance, which still isn't great but I think it's the best option. - Another thing is that that all the carbon bits are from the (£7k I think?) styling specification, they're a cost option on all models. Without it I don't think the car has any visible carbon. I'd completely avoid it and if I had to have it I'm not sure I would want the car. Very chavvy in my personal opinion. - I reckon the light mechanism is from Porsche, considering they have harmless condensation problems as well, and of course the car's Panamera underpinnings - Personally the Speed's worth it. Don't get me wrong, it's still extortionate, but it's a Bentley. I love the Speed interior and at the size of the car rear axle steering is a must in 2022. One more thing- could we see a review of a G class at some point? I think as a Range Rover enthusiast it would be very interesting to see your perspective on it.

I really like the Continental GT, but I've never been convinced that the W12 Speed is the version to get if you want the best possible Conti GT experience. By my estimation, the V8 is the one to get. Lighter on the nose, still plenty of power, and not pretending to be sporty.

I've talked to a lot of people who have multiple of these GT cars with V8s and W12s. They all prefer the W12. They always say that there's just nothing like the feeling of a 12 cylinder engine beneath your foot.

@@eats4cheaps305 Interesting perspective. If it was a V12, I might feel similarly. But the Bentley W12 in particular is not known for having charisma. Still, a lovely car in either form.

It looks a bit like one of those cars where someone has gone over the top wrapping all the trims in carbon effect vinyl. Sometimes less is more.

Dear Harry, I still own my 2002 Continental T “Le Mans". A true love affair. Should I fancy something newer?…… Or the old WO inspired lady, deserves to be cherished like my old Corgi and Dinky die casts? Need your precious word! Andrew

Thanks Harry, that leaking fogged up headlamp reminded me why I should be avoiding the Bentley Brand at all costs.

And then run it into the ground because the owner can't keep up with the running costs.....

My neighbor has a convertible and he did exactly that, W12 included, less than $50K. It's smoother/rounder on the exterior, actually looks better.
