At that time the Aston Martin DB 4 was roughly twice the price, at just under £4,000. When I bought my current Ftype V6 5 years ago, I was coming from years of owning German sports cars, and remembering back to the bad old days of British Leyland, I was concerned about reliability. I love the classic styling and the seating position of the F-Type, so pleased that JLR have decided to continue with the AJ-V8 engine updated to reduce emissions and now built in-house as it's a real antidote to today's trend of downsizing and electrification, the undoubted saving in R&D over newer PU's has translated into offering the vehicle at a competitive price with very reasonable and fixed maintenance costs and less steep depreciation curve compared to an Aston Martin. Love your chickens getting a little cameo too :-)

LOVE the looks of the F-Type; however, to me they feel like sitting in a cave with slits for windows, and they are rather stingy on luggage space -- more of a "go to the beach for the day" than a "weekend tourer"(?). Wife and I both like the parcel space that the back seats of the XK's provide, and the trunk space (especially in the XK8 Convertible) is fantastic for our road trips throughout Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Oh, and we don't have those nasty "run flat" tires -- there is space beneath the floors of the trunks of each XK for a proper spare tire/wheel (albeit a "space saver"). Sure wish Jaguar would bring back a proper "GT". Your thoughts?

I feel that they changed it just to change it, not improve it (except for removing the grille cross bar). My previous car was a Maserati GranTurismo which was a great GT car, but the F-Type is more of a sports car; the GT felt like a truck compared the the F-Type.

Great video Harry. We have a 2018 340hp version and it’s been a great car. Looking forward to a 5,500 mile trip next month from Atlanta to California & back, out via Colorado and back via Texas. Lease is up in March and not sure there is a better value car to replace it. Shame the P450 isn’t offered here.

Sounds like a good deal. And the nice thing about forced induction is you could buy this less expensive version and get a software tune to get it to the power levels of the F-Type R
@marcusprice3199 Жыл бұрын
A remap and pulley swap can bring this up to 600hp, more if you add aftermarket cats and other small bits. A big saving over buying the R.

Excellent review. Looks like the best option. Looks like it will be a comfortable long distance GT, but will be a bit of fun when the mood takes you without the crazy price tag. A bit like the E-type when it came out, and it’s nearly as stunning to look at!

I love the homespun feel of your videos your Lordship. It gives them a genuine character and your casual off the cuff delivery is stupendously refreshing in an industry that's sounding duller and duller. I tried to watch Lovecars video on the M135i straight after and had to turn it off because it was so dull. "BMW goes fwd blah blah blah." Piss off, no one gives a toss. The difference in the approach and delivery was so marked I felt compelled to write to congratulate you. The joy in seeing the message that another Harry's Garage video has gone live is huge. I feel like a kid who's about to open a new present and it often comes across that is how you feel when driving a new car.

Thanks Harry for plugging yourself into a great sound system. I have been enjoying your videos and many of them, once the drive starts, a lot of your important descriptions and information you are conveying gets lost in noise--and not good noise! Now we can hear the car, the road, and your voice conveying all the information. Another great bit of education in this one.

This seems to be a winner on all fronts: your comments on Jag's market positioning are spot on IMO - but for those of us hoping to pick one up for closer to £30k in 3 or four years, I can live with that... 😊

I have had the very good fortune to own and drive Jaguars for over 50 years. Mark 7, XK120, XK 150, many E Types, and of course the XJ Series. The Mark 7 Saloon was my High School confidential ride. You can get 6 cute girls in that rolling sculpture. Paid $700, drove it for 7years. Drove my XK 120 FHC for over 40 years. These cars taught me a lot, and my life has been greatly enriched by all the experiences with Jaguar shared with friends and family.

Having been a life time admirer of Jaguar and having a 1998 XJR from new which I love . BEING A MEMBER OF JUST ABOUT EVERY SINGLE AVAILBLE online Jaguar Forum I would not go near a new one with all the quality control issues they apparently now have, and the appaling response from Jaguar/Landrover over issues when ever I read any of the related forums on the internet from despairing owners its truly tragic and is seriously putting me and others off.
