I'm very much a Jag guy myself Harry so i totally agree, the F-Type is a very overlooked car. I've said for years Jaguar need to go back to racing, it's very much part of the brands DNA.

I think one reason its sales aren't higher is the design of the dash and interior. It seems a bit dated and a bit like its not sure if its old school luxury or modern tesla. The exterior design is fantastic.

They've won the Le Man's 24-hour race 7 times: 5 times in the 50's; Once in 1988 and once in 1990. They know how to make race cars and all this knowledge flows into their civilian cars. Jag enthusiasts know this, but I don't think the general population really gets it.

I feel Jaguar have struck an excellent balance with this car. For 99% of drivers this car offers more than sufficient performance and grunt to light up the rear tyres while keeping things within the bounds of most drivers abilities to control. It's also a good value proposition compared to its competitors.

It's the same for me. I adore the last Vantage, but the new one just doesn't feel attractive at all. I personally think the 4.0 AMG engine is soulless and doesn't sound that exciting despite all its power. Then it doesn't look very nice on the outside and the inside is plain odd. Some journalists talk about really unfinished calibration of the whole car. Strange how little people mention this (then again, I follow mostly british journalist, so it's understandable). This is before we get to the price. Meanwhile, even though a little old, the Jag is full of character and is not so confused about itself.

As a former F-Type owner I have to agree about the looks. They have made it too Audi looking, aggressive styling has taken over from timeless design. I think the best looking F-Type were the final model year ones before the facelift. The xeons had been replaced with LEDs which very subtly modernised it whilst maintaining the same profile. A cracking car none the less and great value. A car that people like to look at and talk about.

History repeats itself. I’m old enough to remember back to 1961 when the Ftype took the motoring world by storm, priced at just under £2,200. At that time the Aston Martin DB 4 was roughly twice the price, at just under £4,000. When I bought my current Ftype V6 5 years ago, I was coming from years of owning German sports cars, and remembering back to the bad old days of British Leyland, I was concerned about reliability. My Ftype is my daily driver and has covered 34,000 miles, and I’m pleased to report that so far absolutely nothing has gone wrong. Great review.

I think its such a shame more people don't consider a jaguar in the UK and instead spend more on the German cars which seem less suited to driving here. Its strange so many people lust after the unreliable land rover products but don't consider the Jag or buy Astons that cost 4x more to service and maintain. Hopefully they will get back in to racing and build a supercar to elevate the coolness of the brand. Jags should be to GB what the mustang is to US.

Thanks Harry another great video - your videos have really helped lift my spirit during the pandemic and I love your style of delivery as it's more 'mature' and objective than other KZbin channels. As per Dan below I'm a Jag owner and love my XE - I'm the 3rd generation of my Family to run Jaguars, my XE feels special to drive very much like a sports car and not too far off the feeling of an F-Type - very underrated in my opinion. I love the classic styling and the seating position of the F-Type, so pleased that JLR have decided to continue with the AJ-V8 engine updated to reduce emissions and now built in-house as it's a real antidote to today's trend of downsizing and electrification, the undoubted saving in R&D over newer PU's has translated into offering the vehicle at a competitive price with very reasonable and fixed maintenance costs and less steep depreciation curve compared to an Aston Martin. Love your chickens getting a little cameo too :-)

I used to do PR for Aston Martin China. Every time I showed up in the F-TYPE, it kind of stole the thunder of the newly-launched Vantage. My only criticism is the electric steering which feels very Land Rover Discovery. So happy to see this problem getting resolved. Will own this car as long as the emission regulation allows.

Love your channel, Harry! Here in Michigan, USA, my wife and I have owned several Jag "grand tourers' -- 1989 XJS V-12 Coupe (sold and replaced with a too tiny Miata!), and we currently have in our stable a 2003 XK8 Convertible (16 yrs) and 2014 XK Coupe (5 yrs), along with several proper 4x4 vehicles for off-road adventures (down to just one at the moment). LOVE the looks of the F-Type; however, to me they feel like sitting in a cave with slits for windows, and they are rather stingy on luggage space -- more of a "go to the beach for the day" than a "weekend tourer"(?). Wife and I both like the parcel space that the back seats of the XK's provide, and the trunk space (especially in the XK8 Convertible) is fantastic for our road trips throughout Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Oh, and we don't have those nasty "run flat" tires -- there is space beneath the floors of the trunks of each XK for a proper spare tire/wheel (albeit a "space saver"). Sure wish Jaguar would bring back a proper "GT". Your thoughts?

Excellent review Harry! As a lifelong Jag lover and owner, I couldn't agree more with your comment about their absence from motorsport. I long for their return to sportscar racing and LeMans. My wife and I travelled all over to watch the IMSA races and even some of the Group C events...it was simply the best of motorsport. I don't think they'll ever attain the respect they deserve until they return to the track. I also wish they'd never never cancelled the XK, it's one of the favorite cars in our 'quite' smaller garage!

Thanks Harry, I've been in the JLR family for 8 years or so, and from the day I started I've been asking why there's no proper motorsport campaign. I thought an XE could have been good in BTCC, F-Type in the various GT series... I was told by a director 'we won't race if we can't be guaranteed to win', which I guess is why there is a one make series for the I-Pace!

Astons are now crass boy racer cars. Probably their major sales are to stupid young Middle Eastern oil heir sons like all similar super cars. They want boy racer cars that show off and cost hundreds of thousands rather than the older British proper cars that were more subtle. Maybe also nouveau riche Chinese sons.

I've owned my F types coupe v6 400 Bhp for near to two years, it's a real head Turner, white with black 20" wheels, it one of a few cars on the road where the front, side and rear are all in perfect balance and look stunning in design, you don't really see that many cars with perfect proportions but the f type has that.

I have a 2015 V6 S and absolutely love it! It's rare enough that you don't see one every day and people still comment on how beautiful the car is. I like the previous design , but of course I'm biased. The first head-on picture I saw of the new design I thought it was an Audi or a Mustang. I feel that they changed it just to change it, not improve it (except for removing the grille cross bar). My previous car was a Maserati GranTurismo which was a great GT car, but the F-Type is more of a sports car; the GT felt like a truck compared the the F-Type.

I love the homespun feel of your videos your Lordship. It gives them a genuine character and your casual off the cuff delivery is stupendously refreshing in an industry that's sounding duller and duller. I tried to watch Lovecars video on the M135i straight after and had to turn it off because it was so dull. "BMW goes fwd blah blah blah." Piss off, no one gives a toss. The difference in the approach and delivery was so marked I felt compelled to write to congratulate you. The joy in seeing the message that another Harry's Garage video has gone live is huge. I feel like a kid who's about to open a new present and it often comes across that is how you feel when driving a new car.

I have had the very good fortune to own and drive Jaguars for over 50 years. Mark 7, XK120, XK 150, many E Types, and of course the XJ Series. The Mark 7 Saloon was my High School confidential ride. You can get 6 cute girls in that rolling sculpture. Paid $700, drove it for 7years. Drove my XK 120 FHC for over 40 years. These cars taught me a lot, and my life has been greatly enriched by all the experiences with Jaguar shared with friends and family.
